NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Members of the women’s golf, field hockey, women’s lacrosse and women’s track and field teams participated in the 2012 CMT Pep Rally on Friday morning at the Celentano Academy Museum. Student-athletes motivated elementary school students through a series of activities, educating them on the importance of CMT preparation. In celebration of National Dr. Seuss Day, Quinnipiac athletes on hand read publications by the popular childrens author to several classrooms.
The morning began with opening remarks from Principal Keisha Hannans, and was then followed by performances from the Celentano Marching Band and Chorus. After the presentation of the CMT Recognition of Excellence Awards, Quinnipiac student-athletes served as the rally’s special guests.
Seniors Furtuna Velaj and Stacey Kmill volunteered to speak to the students about methods of preparation and the significance of the CMT’s. After that, the students went back to their respective classrooms, while the Bobcat athletes stopped in for various academic activities.
The event, organized by Associate Athletic Director Lyneene Richardson, is part of Quinnipiac Athletics Positive Play initiative, which encourages community involvement by its varsity teams and student-athletes.
