Jacqueline Raynor and Vincent Guglietti Named Quinnipiac April Athletes of the Month

HAMDEN, Conn. – Bobcats' baseball junior Vincent Guglietti (East Haven, Conn.) and women’s tennis junior Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) have been named the Quinnipiac April Athletes of the Month, which was announced on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

Vincent Guglietti torched pitchers around the region this past month, hitting .361 through the 16-game stretch. Guglietti led the team in homeruns (4), RBI (16) and hits (22) in helping the team to a 10-6 overall record and an 8-1 mark in conference play. The local product from East Haven used a hot start to bump his season averages. He went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI in a big win at Dartmouth, followed by a four-hit series against Niagara over the weekend. He went 4-for-9 with three walks while crossing the dish three times and driving in two runs. Guglietti was honored by the MAAC with Player of the Week honors.

Guglietti registered multiple hits in six out of the 16 games while either scoring or driving in a run in 15 of them. He currently leads the team in batting average (.328), RBI (28), runs scored (25), homeruns (4), doubles (8) and slugging percentage (.493), and is second in on-base-percentage (.405). Guglietti has a hit in eight of his last 10 games dating back to April 7. He is tied for second in the league in homeruns.

Jacqueline Raynor led the Bobcats through the month of April, a stretch of tennis that culminated with the  2014 MAAC Championship. Raynor was 18-1 in both singles and doubles, which included a perfect 9-0 mark in conference play. She was 9-1 in singles which features a nine-match winning streak, and 9-0 in doubles which features a 15-match unbeaten streak with her partner Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, N.J.). Raynor posted an unblemished 4-0 record in the MAAC Championships, and clinched the title when she defeated Fairfield’s Sharissa Ryan to give Quinnipiac its fourth and final point. She was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Performer.

Raynor, who was named First Team All-MAAC in singles and doubles, bumped her career total to 121 wins which currently has her tied for 12th place all-time at Quinnipiac. She has 44 wins this year alone, and with one more win, would own the Division I record for most wins in a single season. She is 50-33 in singles and 71-23 in doubles for her career.
