Quinnipiac goalie Michael Garteig was 3-1-0 in four games for the Bobcats in the month of December. The junior goalie’s three wins led all ECAC Hockey goalies and were second nationally while his two shutouts – coming against Princeton in a 2-0 affair at High Point Solutions Arena on Dec. 27 and also at Princeton on the following night on ESPNU – led all NCAA Division I goalies for the month. Garteig stopped 90 of 95 shots-on-goal in the four games for a .947 save percentage – the fifth best in ECAC Hockey for the month – while his five goals allowed over 240 minutes produced a 1.47 GAA, good for third best in the league. For his efforts against Princeton in the final weekend of the calendar year, Garteig tied former Bobcat All American Eric Hartzell for the program’s career shutout record, which stands at 10. He was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week and Goalie of the Week on Dec. 30. For the year, Garteig is 11-6-0 with a 2.04 GAA and a .915 save percentage.
