ORLANDO, Fla. - Quinnipiac Men's Tennis Sophomore Ben Teicher | After a long indoor season, we finally got to play outside, this time in Orlando, Florida, where the sun shines a little brighter. We started today with an early morning fitness session to get acclimated to the warm weather and get our blood flowing. With our practice session not being until 4 p.m., we had some down time to relax by the pool and take in the sun.
Practicing outside for the first time since October and playing in the Floridian heat, it took everyone on both teams some time getting used to. This practice was very important to us in preparation for the week of matches ahead because every player needs to be ready to compete this week due to injuries on both the men’s and women’s teams.
With a tiring travel day on Saturday and a full day of fitness, pool, and hitting, we came back from the practice site to eat dinner prepared by the coaching staff. On Tuesday, it will be our turn to make dinner for everyone, and on Thursday, it will be the women’s turn.
Tomorrow starts a big week for the Quinnipiac tennis teams. We have a challenging schedule against South Dakota State, Creighton, and Valparaiso, while the women’s team takes on South Dakota State, Creighton, and the United States Naval Academy. Facing these quality caliber opponents will only help us moving forward in accomplishing our common goal; the men’s and women’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship.
The Quinnipiac men's and women's tennis teams take on South Dakota St. on Monday, March 10 at 1 p.m. at Sanlando Park.
