Bobcats' women’s basketball senior Brittany McQuain (Independence, Mo.) has been named the Quinnipiac March Female Athlete of the Month, which was announced on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
Brittany McQuain guided the Bobcats to four wins in the month of March including an appearance in the MAAC Championship Game and the school’s first at-large bid into the acclaimed Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). She averaged 17.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. Her 17.4 points per game was her highest total in any month this season. McQuain was also named to the All-MAAC Second Team.
With 87 points and 43 rebounds in the month she continued to climb the all-time charts. McQuain moved from ninth place to fifth place all-time with 1,439 points. McQuain also passed Ashlee Kelly ‘04 in all-time rebounding for second place in school history and first place in Division I history. McQuain finishes her career having appeared in 129 games which is the most appearances by any player in a Bobcat uniform. McQuain wins the athlete of the month award for the third time this season which is the most by a Quinnipiac male or female athlete in the 2013-14 academic year.
