Bobcats' field hockey Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.) has been named the Quinnipiac September Female Athlete of the Month, which was announced on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014.
Megan Conaboy starred for the Bobcats in the cage, posting a 3-4 record with a 2.26 GAA, 54 saves and .771 save percentage in seven games throughout September. Conaboy was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week twice (Sept. 1 and 8) to up her career total to five weekly honors. Her 54 saves in September were the most for any goalkeeper in the country while her 7.7 saves per game average was the second highest throughout the entire NCAA Div. I. Conaboy’s breakout game came on Sept. 7 as she posted a career high 22 saves at home against Penn State. The 22-save total for the reigning MAAC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year is the highest single-game mark for any goalkeeper in the nation in 2014 as the next-closest total this season is 18. She tallied one shutout victory on the month win a four-save 2-0 victory over Holy Cross. The clean sheet for Conaboy, the eighth of her career, puts her in sole possession of fourth place on the all-time list at Quinnipiac.
