QU Women's Basketball Set to Host Drexel on Wednesday at 7 PM in Final Home Game of 2014
The Quinnipiac women’s basketball team (7-2, 2-0 MAAC) puts its undefeated home record (4-0) on the line Wednesday night as the Bobcats play host to the Drexel Dragons (4-3, 0-0 CAA) at 7:00 pm. The first all-time meeting between both squads shapes up as the Dragons look to remain above .500 while Quinnipiac aims to continue their five-game winning streak and head into the week-long Christmas break with the best overall record in the MAAC.

QU Athletics Announces Holiday Special ‘Go For 3’ Basketball Ticket Discount
Quinnipiac Athletics and the TD Bank Sports Center Ticket Office are teaming up once again to offer alumni, parents, friends and fans a three-game ticket special which is good for the remainder of the 2014-15 season. The ‘Go For 3’ package allows fans to purchase three men’s basketball or three women’s basketball tickets at a special discounted rate.

Quinnipiac hosts Lehigh University on Thursday night in hopes of snapping a pair of three-game slides by games end. The Mountain Hawks have won three straight against the Bobcats, while Quinnipiac also seeks to snap its longest losing streak since January of the 2012-13 season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center.

Hamden, Conn. – Quinnipiac men’s soccer senior goal keeper Borja Anogitia was selected to the 2014 Division I Men’s Soccer All-Star team, announced by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). Angoitia was honored on the second team along with Army’s goalkeeper, Winston Boldt.

The Quinnipiac women’s basketball team was ranked No. 16 in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major Poll, announced on Tuesday, December 17, 2014 by coaches on the select committee. This marks the fifth consecutive week in which Quinnipiac is ranked in the Top 25. The Bobcats are 7-2 overall and are riding a four-game winning streak heading into their Wednesday night home matchup against Drexel.

Late Three Sinks QU Men’s Basketball at Boston University, 71-68
It was déjà vu all over again for the Quinnipiac men’s basketball team on Sunday afternoon. Boston University’s Jon Papale nailed a three-pointer from the top of the key with 3.4 seconds left to give the hosting Terriers a 71-68 victory at Case Gymnasium. Papale hit the same shot in a similar situation two years ago.

Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team placed three players on the 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men’s All-Northeast Team. Senior Machel Baker (Spanish Town, Jamaica) and junior Tobias Esche (Bremen, Germany) were both named to the second team while senior goalkeeper Borja Angoitia (Bilbao, Spain) was selected to the third team.

Jessica Lee Named MAAC Women's Track Performer of the Week
Quinnipiac’s women’s indoor track and field freshman Jessica Lee (Montgomery, N.J.) became the program’s first ever to be honored as the MAAC Women’s Track Performer of the Week, as announced by league’s office on Dec. 9, 2014. Her triumph comes after a successful debut at the Yale Season Opener on Saturday wherein she broke the program record in just her first collegiate event.

QU Women's Rugby Captures 3rd Place in the ACRA Tournament with 55-32 Victory Over Indiana
Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women’s rugby team secured third place in the nation with a 55-32 victory over Indiana on Sunday afternoon. After being down 20-12 at the break, the Bobcat offense caught fire scoring 33 straight points. Quinnipiac closes out the season with an 8-4 overall record.

QU Women's Indoor Track & Field Busts Out With Four Program Records at Yale Season Opener
After a long-awaited offseason, the Quinnipiac women’s indoor track and field team flashed all sorts of talent in breaking four program records at the Yale Season Opener on Saturday from the Coxe Cage in New Haven. Head coach Carolyn Martin’s influx of gifted underclassmen were on full display as three freshmen each tallied program records while the Bobcats’ junior standout Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.) busted out with a record-breaking 60m dash.

The nationally-ranked No. 15 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team was dealt a 5-2 loss to No. 9 Harvard in an ECAC Hockey match-up at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. With the loss, the Bobcats drop to 10-5-1 overall while they are dealt just their second league loss of the season and move to 6-2-0. Harvard improves to 9-1-2 overall and 5-1-2 in league play with its sixth consecutive victory.

Lindsey West (Ajax, Ontario) scored the only goal of the game for the No. 4/4 Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team as it recorded its first loss of the season to Harvard, 2-1, Saturday evening at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center.

The Quinnipiac University women’s rugby team fell to Penn. State on Saturday afternoon in the ACRA National Semifinals, 35-12. The Bobcats were unable to hold off a late Nittany Lion surge in the second half as PSU scored four consecutive tries to close out the game. QU now stands at 7-4 overall on the season heading into a consolation game on Sunday morning for third place in the nation.

The Crimson Tide drop to 5-3 on the year as the Bobcats knock-off their first SEC foe in program history with the victory. MAAC Names Seven QU Volleyball Players to All-Academic Team
The MAAC has announced that seven players from the Quinnipiac University Volleyball program have made the All-Academic team for the 2014 season. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. The seven members who have made the team include seniors Tanner Celestin (Norco, Calif.) and Brittanie Robinson (Fresno, Calif.) along with junior Chandler Thornton (Arlington, Texas). The sophomore class has four representatives who are Cody Michaels (Versailles, Ky.), Katie Urycki (Chesterton, Ind.), Allison Leigh (Palmer Alaska), and Jamie Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.).

The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team lost to Iona in five sets, 3-2, at the 2014 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament at ESPN's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Floria. The Quinnipiac University women's volleyball fell to Canisius College in the first round of the MAAC Tournament on Thursday afternoon by the score of 3-1. The Bobcats got off to a great start, taking the first set of the match by the score of 25-22. However, Quinnipiac could not capitalize on the early momentum and, despite a great effort by the entire team, the Bobcats would drop the next three sets and the match to Canisius 3-1.

QU Women's Volleyball Squares off Against Canisius in First Round of MAAC Tournament
The Quinnipiac Bobcats will kick off the 2014 MAAC Volleyball Tournament on Thurs. Nov. 20 against the Canisius Golden Griffins at 11 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN 3 from the HP Pavilion at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. After the MAAC regular season the Golden Griffins earned the seventh seed in the MAAC tournament while the Bobcats earned the tenth seed. This will be a chance for the Bobcats to get some redemption after falling to Canisius last Saturday by the score of 3-0. The winner of the game will advance to play Marist at 5:00 p.m. later on Thursday, while the losing team will play on Fri. Nov. 21 at 11 a.m.

QU Women's Volleyball Drops Senior Day Game to Niagara, 3-1
Despite a great effort, the Quinnipiac Bobcats comeback fell short today against the Niagara Purple Eagles as the Bobcats dropped their season finale by the score of 3-1. After dropping the first two sets to Niagara by the scores of 25-23 and 25-18, the Bobcats fought back in the third set besting the Purple Eagles 26-24. Despite the great comeback by Quinnipiac, they ultimately fell short dropping the fourth and final set 25-19.

The attendance of 2,044 fans at the MAAC Semifinal game between the No. 1 Quinnipiac Bobcats and No. 6 Fairfield Stags was the largest ever at a soccer game in Bobcats history. The Quinnipiac men’s soccer team fell 3-1 in penalty kicks to the Fairfield Stags on Saturday afternoon after neither team was able to score through regulation and two overtime periods. The Quinnipiac men’s cross country team wrapped up their 2014 season with an 18th place finish, out of 39, at the NCAA Northeast Regional event from Van Cortlandt Park. The Bobcats’ All-MAAC performer in junior Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) closed out another stellar season with a Top 100 finish to lead the way once again for Quinnipiac. The NCAA Regional event was won by Syracuse with 45 points while the Bobcats tallied 538, third-most among eight MAAC competitors.

Highlighted by senior goalkeeper Borja Angoitia (Bilbao, Spain), the Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team received high praise for another successful season with several individual accolades at the annual Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships banquet on Thursday night. The clean sheet by the Bobcats marked the first time in program history that the Bobcats held Cornell scoreless in a win. Heading into Friday’s matchup sitting in control of their own destiny in terms of playoff positioning, the Bobcats capitalized in the highly-contested battle with freshman Gemma Cirera (Barcelona, Spain) banging home the second half game-winner. Quinnipiac’s triumph moves the Bobcats to 3-2 in MAAC play in 2014 and pushes them into the postseason for a shot at defending their 2013 MAAC Championship.

QU Women's Cross Country Places Five Runners in Top 21 Overall to Earn 2nd Place at MAAC Championship
In typical Quinnipiac women's cross country fashion, the Bobcats displayed superior depth to finish 2nd overall in the 2014 MAAC Championship on Friday from Holmdel Park. Five Bobcats placed in the Top 21 overall while a pair of Bobcats in sophomore Niamh Ashe (East Islip, N.Y.) and freshman Kaleigh Roberts (Higganum, Conn.) both won All-Conference honors. Despite the incredible team effort, the Bobcats were outdone by Iona who picked up their 10th straight MAAC title on Friday. The Gaels managed to place all top five of their runners within the Top 9 overall which proved too much for the Bobcats' depth to overcome.

QU Men's Cross Country's Depth Shines as Bobcats Earn 3rd Place Finish at MAAC Championship
The transformative season for the Quinnipiac men's cross country team took another huge step forward on Friday as the Bobcats scored a 3rd place finish (out of 11 teams) at the 2014 MAAC Championships held at Holmdel Park. A year after placing 7th as a team with just two runners within the first 27 finishers, the Bobcats' marked improvement up and down the roster in 2014 was evident on Friday as all five of their top performers placed within the Top 27 overall. The No. 5 nationally-ranked Iona Gaels won their 24th consecutive MAAC title as all seven of their runners in action placed in the Top 7 overall and were seperated by less than one second.

Last season the matchup pitted a pair of eight-time reigning conference champs against one another and unfortunately for the Quinnipiac women’s cross country team, the Iona Gaels prevailed with the 2013 MAAC title. This season, the Bobcats will be looking to exact a little revenge on their intraconference foes and get back to their winning ways established back in the Northeast Conference wherein Quinnipiac had won eight straight conference titles (2005-12). The Gaels, coming in as the nine-time defending MAAC Champion, provide some stiff competition but the Bobcats as well as the other nine league institutions have their sights set on the 2014 Championship.

After finishing no worse than second from 2003-09, the Bobcats experienced a lull from 2010-11 before finishing a mere seven points out of first place in the 2012 Northeast Conference Championship. In a game that played out much to Quinnipiac’s advantage in regulation, their traditional conference rival pulled out a last minute stunner as the Rider Broncs defeated the Bobcats, 2-1, in overtime on Friday afternoon. Quinnipiac’s loss drops the Bobcats to 6-9 overall (2-1 MAAC) but more importantly fall out of first place in the MAAC as Rider (9-6, 2-0 MAAC) stands as the only remaining undefeated team in the conference.

Niamh Ashe Leads QU Women's Cross Country to 7th Place (out of 20) at CCSU Mini Meet
Sophomore Niamh Ashe (East Islip, N.Y.) posted another dominant performance to lead Quinnipiac women's cross country to a 7th place finish (out of 20 teams) at the CCSU Mini Meet from Stanley Quarter Park on Friday afternoon. Ashe was backed by three other underclassmen as four of the five top finishers for Quinnipiac (226 points) were all either sophomore or freshmen Bobcat runners. Northeast powerhouse Boston College (52 points) claimed the victory amongst a tightly contested leaderboard that included other prestigous programs such as Providence (58), Yale (77) and New Hampshire (112).

Senior Spencer Mannion (Brookfield, Conn.) paced the Quinnipiac men's cross country team as the Bobcats scored an 8th place finish (out of 19 teams) at the Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) Mini Meet on Friday afternoon. Mannion's strong showing led a balanced Quinnipiac lineup (218 points) in the regional showcase as all five of the Bobcats' top finishers placed in the Top 50 overall. The host Blue Devils claimed the victory at their home course from Stanley Quarter Park with 52 points on Friday.

Both came within 15 minutes of each other for the Quinnipiac University women’s soccer team on Wednesday afternoon. After surrendering the equalizer with just 3.9 seconds remaining in regulation, Quinnipiac persevered through the late anguish and found the game-winning goal in double overtime to defeat Marist College, 2-1, from the QU Soccer Field in Hamden. The upset-minded Quinnipiac field hockey team gave their No. 19 nationally-ranked foe all they could handle from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex but they were ultimately edged by Old Dominion, 3-1, in a Sunday non-conference match. An impressive all-around effort from the Bobcats (5-8, 1-0 MAAC) gave the Lady Monarchs (7-6, 1-1 BIG EAST) trouble at times including a second half that was largely dominated by the home team. Quinnipiac will look to build on this momentum heading into their pivotal four-game MAAC run starting on Sunday at Bryant.

QU Men's Cross Country Continues Hot Streak With 13th Place Result (out of 39) at New England Championships
Just one week removed from one of the best all-around performances in quite some time for the Quinnipiac men's cross country team, the Bobcats chose not to settle and continued to push ahead with another impressive 13th place finish at the New England Championships. Racing in horrid conditions as the rain pelted down and the temperatures lingered around 50 degrees, Quinnipiac wasn't fazed as their top six runners crossed the line just over 43 seconds apart. Regional powerhouse Providence split the New England Championship with a talented Brown squad as both teams finished the event with 72 points.

Tracy Campbell Paces QU Women's Cross Country to 8th Place Finish (out of 38) at New England Championships
Taking a quick glance at the leaderboard following a rain soaked day from Franklin Park, the Quinnipiac women's cross country team once again showed why their one of the deepest and most consistent programs year-in and year-out in the Northeast. The Bobcats successfully executed their game plan with two separate packs of runners as the team inspired effort helped Quinnipiac score an 8th place finish at the New England Championships on Saturday. New Hampshire claimed the Championship in runaway fashion as the Wildcats finished with 61 points, 101 fewer points than the runner-up Middlebury.

QU Men's Cross Country Places 3rd out of 40 Teams to Record Best Finish at Paul Short Run in Program History
Everything seemed to click for the Quinnipiac men's cross country team on Saturday as the Bobcats executed a perfect game plan to finish in 3rd place out of 40 schools in the Men's Brown meet at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University. Five of the Bobcats' top seven runners placed in the Top 50 overall and six of the seven Quinnipiac runners were separated by just 34 seconds in what will be the largest field of competitors at a meet this season. Quinnipiac earned 153 points to place third in the event while Ivy League powerhouse Princeton claimed the victory with 83 points followed by Haverford College in second with 130.

QU Women's Cross Country Takes 23rd Place out of 38 Teams at Paul Short Run
Running amongst the most talented crop of teams the Bobcats will compete against all season, the Quinnipiac women's cross country team showed well with a 23rd place result out of 38 teams in the Women’s Gold event at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University. Two Bobcats earned results in the Top 100 as three different packs of Quinnipiac runners helped combined for the result on Saturday. The University of Guelph claimed the victory in the Women’s Gold event with 48 points while Georgetown (127), Florida State (145), Yale (202) and Cornell (230) rounded out the remainder of the top five.

Danielle Allan Scores Twice to Lead QU Field Hockey to Upset Victory Over Hofstra, 4-2
The Quinnipiac field hockey team put together a complete 70-minute effort as the Bobcats scored three unanswered goals to pick up an upset victory over Hofstra, 4-2, from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex. Facing a high flying Hofstra offense, it was the Bobcat offense that came to play on Thursday afternoon as senior Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) picked up two goals, including the game-winner in the second half as Quinnipiac won their second straight game in come-from-behind fashion. Quinnipiac’s second straight victory moves the Bobcats to 3-5 on the season while the Pride drop their second straight and fall to 7-3 in 2014.

The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team got a huge road victory against the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Wednesday night. The Quinnipiac women's cross country team showcased their superior depth on Saturday as the Bobcats captured the Monmouth Invitational victory from Holmdel Park. In what has now become a fixture within the women’s cross country program, Quinnipiac’s depth was on fully display in Saturday’s meet as five Bobcats placed in the Top 10 overall. For the day, Quinnipiac totaled 31 points which was more than double the day’s total for the second place finisher in Marist (71).

The Quinnipiac men's cross country team wrapped up a solid showing at the Monmouth Invitational on Saturday with a 5th place finish out of eight teams. Four Bobcats placed within the Top 30 overall, led by junior Matt Mensher (Tolland, Conn.), as Quinnipiac compiled 106 points on the day. Monmouth picked up the team victory, racing from their home course at Holmdel Park, with 28 points overall.

The Quinnipiac Bobcats opened MAAC play with a strong showing against the visiting Manhattan Jaspers, but saw its comeback bid fall short in a 3-1 loss at Burt Kahn Court on Saturday afternoon. After falling behind Manhattan 2-0, the Bobcats rebounded in the third set with a dominating 25-14 victory. In that set freshman Nicole Milillo (Lynbrook, N.Y.) had three service aces while Quinnipiac as a team had an impressive six service aces in the third set.

The list of Quinnipiac men’s basketball players to move into the professional ranks continues to grow for head coach Tom Moore. Former standouts Ike Azotam and Umar Shannon have both inked contracts to continue playing basketball overseas in 2014-15. Azotam has signed with Marin Peixegalego in Spain while Shannon will head to KB Besa Peja in the Republic of Kosovo. Terms of the agreements have not been disclosed.

With the tie, Bobcat goalkeeper Borja Angoitia (Bilbao, Spain) registered his first shutout of the season and 15th of his career.

The Quinnipiac women's cross country team placed fifth at the Shawn M. Nassaney Memorial Race hosted by Bryant University on Saturday morning. The Bobcats' benefited greatly from the 2014 season debuts of sophomore Niamh Ashe (East Islip, N.Y.) and junior Tracy Campbell (Wall Township, N.J.) as the pair both placed in the Top 20 overall. Boston University finished first in the team standings with 45 points while Quinnipiac earned the fifth place result with 127 points.

It was a career day for several Bobcat competitors for the Quinnipiac men’s cross country team at the Shawn M. Nassaney Memorial Race on Saturday afternoon hosted by Bryant University. The group of six Bobcats, all of which were making their 2014 season debuts, led the way for Quinnipiac who placed 6th in the team standings out of eight competitors. Northeastern claimed the team victory with 24 points while the Bobcats tallied 121 points on the afternoon.

The Quinnipiac men’s soccer team suffered a tough lost at the hands of ACC power Boston College, 2-0. The game marked the 2014 home opener for the Bobcats at the QU Soccer Field. Quinnipiac senior goalkeeper Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 2, as announced by the conference office. Conaboy is the MAAC's first Defensive Player of the Week honoree of the season as the reigning MAAC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year started the year off with a couple big games against national powerhouse programs.

Luck certainly has not been on the side of the Quinnipiac University women’s soccer team in the early going of the 2014 season. The Bobcats suffered a third straight 1-0 defeat on Sunday afternoon, as the Bobcats dropped a non-conference match to UC Davis in overtime at Aggies Soccer Field. The game was the third straight road match for Quinnipiac while concluding the team’s two-game road trip to California.

Field Hockey's Effort Falls Short in 3-2 Overtime Loss to Lafayette
In a game that saw the Quinnipiac field hockey team take a 2-0 lead deep into the second half, the Bobcats saw a game within its grasps slip away in a 3-2 loss in overtime to Lafayette at the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex. Quinnipiac held a halftime lead and built a two-goal lead off the stick of senior captain Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) but the Leopards came alive with two goals in the final five minutes of regulation and then with the game-winner 11:22 into the overtime period. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 0-2 on the season while the Leopards improve to 2-0.

EVANSTON, Ill. - After a hard physical battle and missed opportunities on both sides of the ball, the Quinnipiac men’s soccer team dropped their second game of the season to Northern Illinois, 3-0. Women's Cross Country Places 3rd in 2014 Season Opener at the Stony Brook Invitational
The Quinnipiac women's cross country team opened their 2014 season with a 3rd place finish at the Stony Brook Invitational. In a race dominated by the Bobcats' underclassmen contingent, six of the top seven finishers for Quinnipiac were freshmen runners including two first-year Bobcats (70 points) who each placed in the Top 10. The host Seawolves took first place with 19 points while Sacred Heart placed second with 56 points.

The Quinnipiac men's cross country team kicked off their 2014 campaign with a 3rd place finish at the Stony Brook Invitational. The Bobcats (68 points) were paced by five runners who placed in the Top 22 finishers overall, including a career-best finish for junior Matt Mensher (Tolland, Conn.). The host Seawolves claimed first place with 19 points while Quinnipiac’s MAAC rival Fairfield barley outkicked the Bobcats with 66 points.

The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team kicked off the 2014 season with an incredible come-from-behind victory over the Lafayette Leopards, 3-2, at the Hofstra Invitational. The Bobcats fell behind early dropping the first two sets (25-20, 25-23) in this match but battled back taking the final three sets (25-21, 25-14, 15-11) to win the match. The incredible comeback marks the first win for the Quinnipiac women's volleyball team in a season opener in the Division I era (since 1998).

In a game that seemed destined for overtime, one sudden strike changed everything in the blink of an eye. For the second straight week, the Quinnipiac University women’s soccer team suffered a heartbreaking loss, this time at the hands of a talented Pacific team with 2:45 seconds remaining. The lone goal held up and the Quinnipiac began its two-game California road trip with a 1-0 loss from Knoles Field in Stockton.

The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team put on an offensive clinic from KEB Oerlikon Arena as the Bobcats pumped in six unanswered goals to defeat the Zurich Lions, 6-1, on Sunday night from Switzerland. Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) and Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) led the charge for Quinnipiac with three points each while Ashley Winslow (Portland, Me.) stonewalled the Lions with 13 saves to pick up a well-earned victory.

Turner is entering her seventh season as a member of the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey coaching staff and her fourth year since being promoted to the title of associate head coach. The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost its 2014 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season finale, 4-1, at Siena in Loudonville, N.Y. With the loss, Quinnipiac concludes the regular season at 17-29 overall and 12-10 in the MAAC while Siena goes to 22-30 overall and 17-7 in conference play.

Conners and Corcoran Selected to the NEILA Second Team
Two members of the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team earned All-New England honors for the second straight year, as senior Gill Conners (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and junior Pat Corcoran (Stratford, Conn.) were named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Second Team, which was voted upon by coaches around the region.
