Quinnipiac men's ice hockey was ranked 11th in the most recent USCHO.com Division I Poll, as released on Monday, Mar. 2, 2015. The ECAC Hockey Cleary Cup Regular Season Champions completed the regular season at 21-9-4 overall and 16-3-3 in ECAC Hockey play.

Val Driscoll Earns Second Straight MAAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Honors
Quinnipiac graduate student center Val Driscoll (Stoughton, Massachusetts) was named MAAC Player of the Week on Monday, March 2, 2015. Driscoll picks up her second straight weekly Player of the Week honor after leading the Bobcats in scoring, rebounding, blocks, field goal percentage and free throw shooting in what was an undefeated 3-0 week for Quinnipiac, clinching a perfect 20-0 MAAC regular season.

Guastella, Driscoll, Abshire and Ostergaard Land Spots on MAAC All-Conference Teams
Four student-athletes from the Quinnipiac women’s basketball team – Samantha Guastella (Red Bank, New Jersey), Val Driscoll (Stoughton, Massachusetts), Gillian Abshire (Washington, D.C.) and Nikoline Ostergaard (Vedbaek, Denmark) – have been named All-Conference as the league announced on Monday, March 2, 2015. Guastella was selected to the First Team, Driscoll was named to the Second Team and Abshire and Ostergaard earned spots on the Third Team.

Zaid Hearst, Ousmane Drame and Ayron Hutton Honored by the MAAC
Headlined by senior captain Zaid Hearst (Bethesda, Md.), three members of the Quinnipiac men’s basketball team received MAAC All-Conference honors on Monday, March 2, 2015. Hearst was named First Team All-MAAC, senior forward Ousmane Drame (Boston, Mass.) was tabbed Second Team, and freshman guard Ayron Hutton (Virginia Beach, Va.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.

QU Women’s Basketball Becomes First MAAC School to Finish 20-0 in Conference Play With 87-48 Takedown of Monmouth
The Quinnipiac women's basketball team became just the sixth team to complete a perfect MAAC regular season on Sunday afternoon, as the Bobcats improved to 20-0 with a 87-48 victory over Monmouth at the MAC. With the win, Quinnipiac wins their 18th straight, improves to 28-3 overall and becomes the first team in MAAC history (est. 1980) to finish with a 20-0 regular season conference record.

QU Men’s Basketball Edged by Manhattan, 69-65; Bobcats open MAAC Tournament against Marist on Thursday Night
Zaid Hearst (Bethesda, Md.) scored a game-high 22 points and Ousmane Drame (Boston, Mass.) flirted with a triple double, but the Quinnipiac men’s basketball team was edged by Manhattan College, 69-65, on Sunday afternoon at Draddy Gymnasium in Riverdale. Quinnipiac serves as the No. 6 seed in the MAAC Championships and will take on Marist in the first round next week, Thursday, March 5, at Times Union Center in Albany.

QU Baseball Drops Final Game to James Madison 9-6, Split First Series of 2015 Season
The Quinnipiac Baseball team’s bats continued to stay hot for the third consecutive game, but the Bobcats fell to the James Madison Dukes, 9-6, in the final game of a four-game series to split the series with the Dukes.

QU Acrobatics & Tumbling Falls to Oregon on Senior Day
The Quinnipiac acrobatics and tumbling team fell to the Oregon Ducks, 274.315-264.065, on Sunday afternoon. With the result, the Bobcats dropped to 1-2 on the year while the Ducks improved to 3-0. Quinnipiac took one out of six events from Oregon, but trailed by less than one point heading into halftime. The Ducks have won the last four consecutive NCATA Championships.

QU Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader at James Madison, Winning Game One 6-5 and Game Two 8-4
The Quinnipiac baseball team picked up its first two wins of the 2015 season as the Bobcats swept a doubleheader with the James Madison Dukes, winning Game One, 6-5 and Game Two, 8-4.

No. 10 Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Falls To Dartmouth, 3-1
Nationally-ranked No. 10 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey was dealt its first loss in 14 ECAC Hockey games, falling to Dartmouth, 3-1, in Hanover, New Hampshire. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 22-9-4 overall and 16-3-3 in leadgue play while Dartmouth improves to 15-10-4 overall and 12-8-2 league mark.

Shameal Samuels Breaks 27-Year-Old Meet Record On Her Way to Capturing 400m New England Championship For Second Straight Year
Breaking records has become the norm for Quinnipiac women’s indoor track and field’s Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Connecticut) but among all her individual achievements, nothing comes close to her awe-inspiring performance at the 2015 New England Championships. After qualifying for the 400m finals with a blistering time of 54.01 seconds on Friday, Samuels saved plenty of gas in the tank to break a 27-year-old meet record on Saturday with an impeccable time of 53.72 seconds. Samuels’ jaw-dropping sprint to the finish line captured the 400m New England Championship for the second straight season as her effort led the Bobcats to an 11th place result (out of 25 teams) at the Boston Univ. Track Center.

Nicole Connery (Newmarket, Ontario) scored the game-winning power play goal in the second period that propelled the No. 3 seed Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team into the ECAC Semifinals with a 2-0 shutout victory over the No. 6 seed Princeton Tigers Saturday afternoon at High Point Solutions Arena.

QU Men’s Lacrosse Powers Past NJIT, 10-3
The Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse team enjoyed its first win of the 2015 season on Saturday, as the Bobcats put together a strong second half to defeat NJIT by a final score of 10-3 on Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium in Newark. The win levels out Quinnipiac’s record at 1-1 in the young season.

The Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team mounted a furious comeback on Saturday afternoon that fell just short as the Bobcats dropped a non-conference showdown against Binghamton, 11-8, from the QU Lacrosse Turf Field in Hamden. Quinnipiac’s loss drops the Bobcats to 0-3 on the season while Binghamton captures their first victory, moving to 1-1 on the year.

QU Field Hockey Announces Incoming Class of 2019
Quinnipiac field hockey head coach Becca Main has announced the signing of five players to National Letters of Intent set to join the Bobcats for the 2015 season. The incoming class includes: Rachel Foley (Davis, California), Kyla Johns (Darien, Connecticut), Kendall Nickel (Flemington, New Jersey), Selina Reichert (Lower Hutt, New Zealand) and Hannah Teicher (Bethesda, Maryland). The five committed players join Camryn Dias (Hopedale, Massachusetts), who joins Quinnipiac as a gray shirt athlete in the 2015 Spring semester, to make up the Bobcats’ six-member Class of 2019.

The Quinnipiac women's basketball team earned the No. 6 ranking in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major Poll, announced on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 by coaches on the select committee, setting a record for the highest ranking in program history. The Bobcats' previous program-best was the No. 7 ranking achieved on four other occasions including three straight weeks prior to this announcement. This week's poll also represents the 15th consecutive week in which the Bobcats have earned a Top 25 ranking.

Bobcats Come-From-Behind to Defeat Iona, 79-72; QU Women's Basketball Claims MAAC Regular Season Championship
Life at the top of the conference is a difficult road to navigate and on Sunday afternoon Quinnipiac was tested for 40 minutes. Every shot was contested, the atmosphere was playoff-like and great players were hitting buckets throughout but in the end, Quinnipiac proved their metal once again with a 79-72 comeback victory over the Iona Gaels.

Fans of the team may just look back on this day, February 21, 2015, and view it as the time and place where the Quinnipiac women's track & field program began to soar to new heights. In a day filled with amazing individual and team triumphs, none bigger than the day had by the 2015 MAAC Most Outstanding Track Athlete Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.), Quinnipiac notched 104 total team points on the way to earning the 3rd place finish at the 2015 MAAC Championships. Quinnipiac's 104 points represent a new program record while the team's 3rd place finish matches the best ever at a conference championship meet in program history.

On Saturday, Feb. 14 the Quinnipiac University field hockey and men’s soccer programs combined their efforts to host the 1st annual Dodgeball Tournament to benefit “Give Kids the World” Foundation. With the help of the Quinnipiac Intramural department, the programs held the tournament at the Mount Carmel Rec Center. Fourteen teams competed in the event, raising over $800.

In all, nine different Bobcats scored at least six points while three reached new career-highs offensively as Quinnipiac put forth an offensive clinic against a stingy Rider defense. The season of success for the Quinnipiac women’s indoor track and field team continued at a fever pitch on Friday as a bevy of dazzling individual performances highlighted the Bobcats’ efforts at the Terrier Invite hosted by Boston University. In all, more than 10 Bobcats tallied new personal-bests on the day but those achieved by juniors Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.) and Medinah Nabadduka (Windsor, Connecticut) were good enough for school records in the 400m and 1000m, respectively.

QU Men’s Basketball Winning Streak Halted at Canisius, 63-57
Quinnipiac’s three-game winning streak came to a close on Friday night, as the Bobcats fell short to Canisius College, 63-57, at the Koessler Athletic Center in Buffalo. Winners in five of its last six entering the night, Quinnipiac met a tough-minded defense that held the visitors to just 33.3 percent shooting in the game. Coupled with 14 turnovers and just two three-point field goals, Canisius scored just enough to hold off Quinnipiac’s late charge to escape with the MAAC triumph.

Right from the opening tip, it was evident the Quinnipiac women’s basketball team came to play on Sunday. Having to overcome a three hour delay due to last night’s ice storm across the Northeast, the Bobcats showed no ill effects as Quinnipiac rode an explosive first half to the 85-51 victory over Manhattan. Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey Associate Head Coach and Canada U-18 Women’s Hockey Head Coach Cassandra Turner won a silver medal at the IIHF U-18 Women’s World Championships Monday night at the HarborCenter. Class of 2019 Recruit Melissa Samoskevich won the gold medal with the United States U-18 team, defeating Turner’s Canadian squad 3-2 in overtime in the Gold Medal game.

Standout Goalkeeper Megan Conaboy Attends Tryout for USA Field Hockey's Women's High Performance Team
Quinnipiac field hockey senior standout goalkeeper Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania) took part in a tryout for USA Field Hockey’s High Performance Team held over the weekend at the national training center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The USA national trial drew players from across the country and Conaboy will now await the decision from the select committee that will arrive in the next week. If Conaboy advances, she will continue to work with the USA Field Hockey High Performance Team over the 2015 calendar year.

Showing no ill effects of the lengthy drive and shivering temperatures in Buffalo, the Quinnipiac women’s basketball team surged forward and defeated Canisius, 86-66, from the Koessler Athletic Center on Friday evening. Several of the Bobcat substitutes keyed the offensive attack in the first half while the five starters took over in the second stanza to seal the convincing win. The Bobcats’ victory improves Quinnipiac’s overall record to 13-3 while remaining undefeated in the MAAC (5-0). Canisius drops to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in the conference in the defeat.

MAAC Names Seven QU Volleyball Players to All-Academic Team
The MAAC has announced that seven players from the Quinnipiac University Volleyball program have made the All-Academic team for the 2014 season. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. The seven members who have made the team include seniors Tanner Celestin (Norco, Calif.) and Brittanie Robinson (Fresno, Calif.) along with junior Chandler Thornton (Arlington, Texas). The sophomore class has four representatives who are Cody Michaels (Versailles, Ky.), Katie Urycki (Chesterton, Ind.), Allison Leigh (Palmer Alaska), and Jamie Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.).

QU Women's Volleyball Squares off Against Canisius in First Round of MAAC Tournament
The Quinnipiac Bobcats will kick off the 2014 MAAC Volleyball Tournament on Thurs. Nov. 20 against the Canisius Golden Griffins at 11 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN 3 from the HP Pavilion at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. After the MAAC regular season the Golden Griffins earned the seventh seed in the MAAC tournament while the Bobcats earned the tenth seed. This will be a chance for the Bobcats to get some redemption after falling to Canisius last Saturday by the score of 3-0. The winner of the game will advance to play Marist at 5:00 p.m. later on Thursday, while the losing team will play on Fri. Nov. 21 at 11 a.m.

QU Women's Volleyball Drops Senior Day Game to Niagara, 3-1
Despite a great effort, the Quinnipiac Bobcats comeback fell short today against the Niagara Purple Eagles as the Bobcats dropped their season finale by the score of 3-1. After dropping the first two sets to Niagara by the scores of 25-23 and 25-18, the Bobcats fought back in the third set besting the Purple Eagles 26-24. Despite the great comeback by Quinnipiac, they ultimately fell short dropping the fourth and final set 25-19.

The attendance of 2,044 fans at the MAAC Semifinal game between the No. 1 Quinnipiac Bobcats and No. 6 Fairfield Stags was the largest ever at a soccer game in Bobcats history. The Quinnipiac men’s soccer team fell 3-1 in penalty kicks to the Fairfield Stags on Saturday afternoon after neither team was able to score through regulation and two overtime periods. The Quinnipiac men’s cross country team wrapped up their 2014 season with an 18th place finish, out of 39, at the NCAA Northeast Regional event from Van Cortlandt Park. The Bobcats’ All-MAAC performer in junior Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) closed out another stellar season with a Top 100 finish to lead the way once again for Quinnipiac. The No. 5 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team dominated the No. 8/6 Cornell Big Red on their way to a 3-0 shutout at Lynah Rink. The clean sheet by the Bobcats marked the first time in program history that the Bobcats held Cornell scoreless in a win. Previously, Quinnipiac and Cornell skated to a 0-0 tie on Feb. 5, 2010 at Lynah Rink but Quinnipiac had never won a shut out with the Big Red until Saturday.

Heading into Friday’s matchup sitting in control of their own destiny in terms of playoff positioning, the Bobcats capitalized in the highly-contested battle with freshman Gemma Cirera (Barcelona, Spain) banging home the second half game-winner. Quinnipiac’s triumph moves the Bobcats to 3-2 in MAAC play in 2014 and pushes them into the postseason for a shot at defending their 2013 MAAC Championship.

QU Women's Cross Country Places Five Runners in Top 21 Overall to Earn 2nd Place at MAAC Championship
In typical Quinnipiac women's cross country fashion, the Bobcats displayed superior depth to finish 2nd overall in the 2014 MAAC Championship on Friday from Holmdel Park. Five Bobcats placed in the Top 21 overall while a pair of Bobcats in sophomore Niamh Ashe (East Islip, N.Y.) and freshman Kaleigh Roberts (Higganum, Conn.) both won All-Conference honors. Despite the incredible team effort, the Bobcats were outdone by Iona who picked up their 10th straight MAAC title on Friday. The Gaels managed to place all top five of their runners within the Top 9 overall which proved too much for the Bobcats' depth to overcome.

QU Men's Cross Country's Depth Shines as Bobcats Earn 3rd Place Finish at MAAC Championship
The transformative season for the Quinnipiac men's cross country team took another huge step forward on Friday as the Bobcats scored a 3rd place finish (out of 11 teams) at the 2014 MAAC Championships held at Holmdel Park. A year after placing 7th as a team with just two runners within the first 27 finishers, the Bobcats' marked improvement up and down the roster in 2014 was evident on Friday as all five of their top performers placed within the Top 27 overall. The No. 5 nationally-ranked Iona Gaels won their 24th consecutive MAAC title as all seven of their runners in action placed in the Top 7 overall and were seperated by less than one second.

Last season the matchup pitted a pair of eight-time reigning conference champs against one another and unfortunately for the Quinnipiac women’s cross country team, the Iona Gaels prevailed with the 2013 MAAC title. This season, the Bobcats will be looking to exact a little revenge on their intraconference foes and get back to their winning ways established back in the Northeast Conference wherein Quinnipiac had won eight straight conference titles (2005-12). The Gaels, coming in as the nine-time defending MAAC Champion, provide some stiff competition but the Bobcats as well as the other nine league institutions have their sights set on the 2014 Championship.

The traditionally dominant Quinnipiac men’s cross country team looks to regain its championship form in their second MAAC Championship appearance on Friday at 11:00 am from Holmdel Park. After finishing no worse than second from 2003-09, the Bobcats experienced a lull from 2010-11 before finishing a mere seven points out of first place in the 2012 Northeast Conference Championship. In a game that played out much to Quinnipiac’s advantage in regulation, their traditional conference rival pulled out a last minute stunner as the Rider Broncs defeated the Bobcats, 2-1, in overtime on Friday afternoon. Niamh Ashe Leads QU Women's Cross Country to 7th Place (out of 20) at CCSU Mini Meet
Sophomore Niamh Ashe (East Islip, N.Y.) posted another dominant performance to lead Quinnipiac women's cross country to a 7th place finish (out of 20 teams) at the CCSU Mini Meet from Stanley Quarter Park on Friday afternoon. Ashe was backed by three other underclassmen as four of the five top finishers for Quinnipiac (226 points) were all either sophomore or freshmen Bobcat runners. Northeast powerhouse Boston College (52 points) claimed the victory amongst a tightly contested leaderboard that included other prestigous programs such as Providence (58), Yale (77) and New Hampshire (112).

Senior Spencer Mannion (Brookfield, Conn.) paced the Quinnipiac men's cross country team as the Bobcats scored an 8th place finish (out of 19 teams) at the Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) Mini Meet on Friday afternoon. Mannion's strong showing led a balanced Quinnipiac lineup (218 points) in the regional showcase as all five of the Bobcats' top finishers placed in the Top 50 overall. The host Blue Devils claimed the victory at their home course from Stanley Quarter Park with 52 points on Friday.

Both came within 15 minutes of each other for the Quinnipiac University women’s soccer team on Wednesday afternoon. After surrendering the equalizer with just 3.9 seconds remaining in regulation, Quinnipiac persevered through the late anguish and found the game-winning goal in double overtime to defeat Marist College, 2-1, from the QU Soccer Field in Hamden. QU Field Hocked Edged By No. 19 Old Dominion, 3-1, in 7th Annual Play4TheCure Game
The upset-minded Quinnipiac field hockey team gave their No. 19 nationally-ranked foe all they could handle from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex but they were ultimately edged by Old Dominion, 3-1, in a Sunday non-conference match. An impressive all-around effort from the Bobcats (5-8, 1-0 MAAC) gave the Lady Monarchs (7-6, 1-1 BIG EAST) trouble at times including a second half that was largely dominated by the home team. Quinnipiac will look to build on this momentum heading into their pivotal four-game MAAC run starting on Sunday at Bryant.

No. 15 Quinnipiac Opens Season With 5-3 Win Against Bentley In Front Of Sell-Out Crowd of 3, 420 At High Point Solutions Arena
Nationally-ranked No. 15 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey defeated Bentley, 4-3, in its home-opener in front of a sell-out crowd of 3,420 at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Bobcats open the year at 1-0-0 while Bentley starts at 0-1-0 on the season.

Hamden, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team survived a late second half scare by the Rider Broncs and took a 2-1 conference victory. Machel Baker (Spanish Town, Jamaica) scored both goals in the first half off a pair of assists from James Doig (Liverpool, England).

QU Men's Cross Country Continues Hot Streak With 13th Place Result (out of 39) at New England Championships
Just one week removed from one of the best all-around performances in quite some time for the Quinnipiac men's cross country team, the Bobcats chose not to settle and continued to push ahead with another impressive 13th place finish at the New England Championships. Racing in horrid conditions as the rain pelted down and the temperatures lingered around 50 degrees, Quinnipiac wasn't fazed as their top six runners crossed the line just over 43 seconds apart. Regional powerhouse Providence split the New England Championship with a talented Brown squad as both teams finished the event with 72 points.

Tracy Campbell Paces QU Women's Cross Country to 8th Place Finish (out of 38) at New England Championships
Taking a quick glance at the leaderboard following a rain soaked day from Franklin Park, the Quinnipiac women's cross country team once again showed why their one of the deepest and most consistent programs year-in and year-out in the Northeast. The Bobcats successfully executed their game plan with two separate packs of runners as the team inspired effort helped Quinnipiac score an 8th place finish at the New England Championships on Saturday. New Hampshire claimed the Championship in runaway fashion as the Wildcats finished with 61 points, 101 fewer points than the runner-up Middlebury.

The Quinnipiac University women's golf team tied for 11th out of 17 teams at the 2014 Rutgers Invitational in Sommerset, New Jersey. Sophomores Nicole Scola and Emily Ribbins both tied for 26th out of 90 golfers in the tournament.

Quinnipiac University has announced the 2014 Quinnipiac Athletics Hall of Fame class. This year's inductees include field hockey's Denise (Horsfield) Franco '00, women's basketball's Ashlee Kelly '04, men's basketball's Bill Romano '02 and Jared Grasso '02, women's tennis' Stephanie Petryki '02, WQUN play-by-play announcer Bill Schweizer and the 1996-97 men's and women's tennis teams will be honored on for this year's class.

QU Women's Volleyball Falls in Final Set to St. Peter's, 3-2
The Quinnipiac Bobcats fell in the fifth and final set to Saint Peter’s in a heartbreaking loss. With the loss, Quinnipiac falls to 0-7 in the conference while Saint Peter’s improves to 2-4 in MAAC play. Despite winning the third set 25-23 to take a 2-1 match lead, the Bobcats would drop the last two sets to the Peacocks by the scores of 25-18 and 15-9 in the final set.

The Quinnipiac University women's rugby team was defeated by the Brigham Young University Cougars on Saturady afternoon, 36-19. In a tough match up between two nationally ranked top five teams, the Bobcats could not stop the Cougar attack in the second half despite tries from Natalie Kosko (Sebastian, Fla.), Christie Albers (Castle Rock, Co.), and Elisa Cuellar (Palm Bay, Fla.).

In an all-time series that has been dominated by the Quinnipiac field hockey team through the years, the Bobcats had to fight and claw their way to a 1-0 victory over a gritty Siena Saints squad on Friday afternoon. Quinnipiac needed a goal late in the second half from junior Savanna Reilly (Hamden, Conn.) to hold off the gamely Siena bunch on the road as the Bobcats take the highly contested one-goal road victory in the 2014 MAAC opener.

The Quinnipiac University women’s golf team completed the first day of the Rutgers Invitational in 14th place out of 17 teams. The Bobcats’ combined for a 327 – the total of their top four individual scores – for the ninth best 18-hole tally in program history, while its +35 against-par score ranks fifth all-time at Quinnipiac.

Momentum seemed to be slipping away from the Quinnipiac field hockey with the clock winding towards the halfway point of the second half but sophomore Angie King (South Windsor, Conn.) stepped up with a bigtime goal to push the Bobcats into the lead for good on Wednesday afternoon. King’s goal played a pivotal role in Quinnipiac walking away with a 3-1 victory over Brown from the QU Field Hockey Turf Complex.
