The Quinnipiac University baseball will resume their spring trip when they travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on The Citadel in a non-conference match-up at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in Charleston, S.C. Quinnipiac is 0-6 through the early stages of their schedule while The Citadel is 4-6 after taking two-of-three this weekend from Elon University.
Senior Joe Duffy will take the mound against The Citadel on Monday. Duffy has made two appearances in Quinnipiac's first six games. Against Maryland, Duffy allowed five runs on 10 hits while striking out seven over five innings. He also made a relief appearance against No. 2 Georgia on Friday, hurling a perfect inning while striking out one.
John Simone, is his first at-bat in over a year, connected for a three-run homer in Quinnipiac's 19-6 loss to Georgia on Saturday.
Another Long Ball
Bryn Doyle also connected for his first homerun of the season against Georgia. Doyle's two-run shot in the second inning of Sunday's loss to the Bulldogs accounted for both of Quinnipiac's runs for the game.
Bob The Builder
In a three-game series against Maryland, Bobak Emamian batted a team-high .364 (4-11) with two RBI andn three runs scored. Against the Terrapins in the first game of the series, Emamian was 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored while also walking twice. Emamian followed that performance with a 3-for-4 showing in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Ben Farina currently leads the Bobcats in hits (7) through Quinnipiac's first six games. Farina is batting .269 (7-26) with three doubles and a run scored.
Michael Marmo is the Bobcats' only other hitter averaging more than a hit a game. Marmo is batting .261 (6-23) while starting all six games behind the plate.
Senior Bryn Doyle is currently batting .250 (5-20), but carries a team-high .375 on-base percentage. Doyle and Emamian share the team lead in runs scored (4).
