The Quinnipiac University baseball team will host Sacred Heart
University this weekend for its first home competition of the 2011
season. The Bobcats and Pioneers are scheduled to play a
nine-inning game on Friday, April 1 at 3 p.m., followed by a pair
of seven-inning games on Saturday, April 2 at 12 p.m. before a
nine-inning contest on Sunday, April 2 at 3 p.m. The Bobcats are
currently 11-7 overall and 7-1 in NEC play, good for first place in
the league standings. Sacred Heart is 9-12 overall and 2-6 in
league play.

First Place Bobcats
Northeast Conference first-place Quinnipiac is currently off to
their best overall (11-7) and NEC (7-1) start in program history
after sweep a four-game series at Mount St. Mary's this weekend.
Quinnipiac has won seven of their last eight games, including a
seven-game winning streak against NEC teams.
Scouting Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart is currently 9-12 overall and 2-6 in the Northeast
Conference. JJ Edwards leads a trio of players batting .300 or
better. Edwards checks in at .378 (31-82). Rob Griffith checks in
at .367 while leading the team with 29 hits, 18 RBI, a .544
slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage.Steve Tedesco is
hitting .315 for the pioneers with a team-best 18 runs scored while
also leading the team with seven stolen bases. On the mound, John
Hermanson is 3-0 with a 3.24 ERA. Nick Leiningen leads the Pioneers
with a 2.77 ERA while Troy Scribner has logged a team-high 30 2/3
innings pitched while also striking out a team-high 21 batters.
