The Quinnipiac baseball team will play the University of New Haven on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 12 p.m. in the first game of the 2011 City Series at Yale Field in New Haven, Conn.
The City Series is an annual, two-day event that also features Yale and Southern Connecticut State, who will play at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The consolation game for the tournamnet will be played at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16 with the Championship Game scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Quinnipiac is coming a 2011 season that saw the Bobcats finish 15-32 overall and 11-21 in the Northeast Conference. Second-year captain Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) will lead the Bobcats after a junior season that saw the second baseman hit .294 (48-163) with five home runs, 29 RBI, 28 runs scored a team-best 12 doubles. Migani also had a team-best slugging percentage of .460.
All-Northeast Conference catcher Kyle Nisson (Wallingford, Conn.) is coming off a career year that saw the Bobcats' back-stop hit a team- and personal-best .336 (51-152) while also leading the team with a .399 on-base percentage. Defensive, Nisson threw out 14 would-be base stealers, second most among all Northeast Conference catchers.
