The Quinnipiac University baseball team will travel to New Britain, Conn. for the second and third game of its four-game Northeast Conference series against Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, March 31 at 1 p.m. Live stats are available for both seven-inning games.
Central Connecticut took the first game of the series, 9-3, on Friday, March 30. Senior Gabe Guerino (Milford, Conn.) was 2-for-4 with an RBI while freshman Vin Guglietti (East Haven, Conn.) singled to extend his hitting streak against NEC competition to five games. Ray Buckley (Bethel, Conn.) pitched 3 1/3 innings of scoreless, two-hit baseball.
Quinnipiac head coach Dan "Skip" Gooley continues the hunt for win No. 500 against CCSU. Currently, Gooley is one of three coaches in Quinnipiac history, including Burt Kahn (459) and Mike Quitko (474) to reach the 400-win mark. Gooley previously coached at University of Hartford for four years (1988-92), in which he accumulated 101 wins, giving him 398 wins at Quinnipiac.
