Quinnipiac sophomore third baseman Zak Palmer (Mahwah, N.J.) and senior catcher Kyle Nisson (Wallingford, Conn.) were named to the 2012 College Sports Madness All-Northeast Conference teams. Palmer was selected as a First Team third baseman, while Nisson was named to the Second Team.
Palmer's selection comes after he was selected to the All-Northeast Conference First Team, announced by the conference office on May 16, 2012. Palmer was also named the Quinnipiac May Athlete of the Month and was a two-time NEC Player of the Week. For the year, Palmer tied for the team lead in hits (54), RBI (22) while leading the team in average (.342), on-base percentage (.416) and slugging percentage (.399). In NEC play, Palmer led the Bobcats in average (.417), hits (45), runs scored (21), RBI (20), on-base percentage (.469) and slugging percentage (.472). Palmer, with the team's second-best 14 multiple-hit games, was the only player in the line-up to collect hold three-game and four-game multiple-hit streaks. He completed his second year at Quinnipiac with a nine-game hitting streak.
