NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Five Bobcats managed two hits apiece, but the Quinnipiac baseball team dropped a 10-3 decision to the University of New Haven in the first game of the 2011 City Series at Yale Field.

Zak Palmer, Gabe Guerino, Kevin O'Connelll and freshmen Brian Ruditys and Scott Donaghue all had two hits apiece while Kyle Nisson drove in a pair of runs. Ruditys drove in the Bobcats third run in the loss.

Quinnipiac scored the game's first run in the third inning when Nisson's sacrifice fly to center field proved deep enough to score Mike Blumenthal. After New Haven tied the game in the bottom half of the inning, Ruditys' since to right field scored Guerino, who singled to reach base.

New Haven tied the game in the bottom of the fourth and then took the lead for good with a two-run bottom-of-the-fifth inning. Nisson drove in Palmer with the Bobcats third run in the ninth inning.

With a Yale win today, Quinnipiac will face Southern Connecticut State at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16 at Yale Field.
