DURHAM, N.C. - The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to Duke, 15-2, in a non-conference match-up in Durham, N.C. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 4-4 overall while Duke improves to 10-7 on the year.
Nic Civale (East Windsor, Conn.) was 2-for-3 with a run scored while Zak Palmer (Mahwah, N.J.) also drove in a run. Forrest Dwyer (Wakefield, R.I.) scored the Bobcats other run while Brian Ruditys (Boothwyn, Pa.), Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.), Scott Donaghue (Marlboro, N.J.) and Chris Caldari (Plainview, N.Y.) also collected hits. Freshman Mike Palladino (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) picked up his second career hit in his second career start in left field.
On the mound, George Dummar (Branford, Conn.) took the lose after giving up three runs on one hit over 1 1/3 innings. Kevin Castodio (Pawcatuck, Conn.) was tagged for six runs - three earned - over four innings while freshman Kyle Musco (Walpole, Mass.) surrendered four runs - two earned - over 2/3 of an inning. Matt DeRosa (Monroe, Conn.) gave up two runs on two hits over two innings while freshman Kevin Sustad (Merrick, N.Y.) pitched a scoreless, hitless eighth in his collegiate debut.
Quinnipiac returns to action this weekend when it takes on Akron as part of the 2013 Chanticleer Classic hosted by Coastal Carolina on Friday, Mar. 15 and Saturday, Mar. 16.
