Baseball Falls To Buffalo, 10-1; Dale Long Drives In Bobcats' Lone Run

NORFOLK, VA- The Quinnipiac baseball team lost to the University of Buffalo, 10-1, in their last game at the Spartan Classic hosted by Norfolk State in Norfolk, Va. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 0-3 on the season while Buffalo improves to 3-0.

Freshman Gregory Egan (Seldon, N.Y.) made his first collegiate star, lasting 3 2/3 innings while sacrificing seven runs on five hits while striking out two. Freshman Brandon Shileikis (North Dighton, MA) lasted 4 1/3 innings in his collegiate debut, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out two.  Sophomore Kevin Sustad (Merrick, N.Y.) made his first appearance of the season. Sustad threw one inning, giving up one run on one hit with one strikeout. 

Freshman Matthew Batten (Shelton, Conn.) led the way offensively for the Bobcats going 2-for-4 with a double.  Dale Long (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) singled in Vincent Guglietti (East Haven, Conn.) in the bottom of the 6th for the Bobcats only run of the day.

Quinnipiac will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. next weekend to take on the University of Tennessee in a three-game series on Feb. 28 to Mar. 2.
