The Quinnipiac University baseball team will face Central Connecticut State in New Britain, Conn. on Thursday, Mar. 27 at 2:30 p.m. The Bobcats enter the game with a record of 4-14 overall while CCSU stands at 4-5 on the season.
JANKINS NAMED MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Thomas Jankins (West Brookfield, Mass.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the MAAC office on Monday, Mar. 24. Jankins picked up his team-leading second win of the season with a masterpiece against Manhattan in Quinnipiac's first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game in program history. Jankins, a 6-3 right-handed hurler out of Quabaog Regional High School in West Brookfield, Mass., hurled eight shut-out innings while striking out 10 – also a Quinnipiac freshman record – in a 4-0 win against the Jaspers. Jankins scattered five hits in the gem, allowing just seven baserunners in the game and retiring eight straight batters at one point. For the season, Jankins is 2-3.

SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY
Central Connecticut State enters Thursday's match-up with a record of 4-5 overall. The Blue Devils defeated Iona in its season-opener, 2-1 on Mar. 7 before dropping the first two games of its three-game series at Central Florida before salvaging a win in their third game of the set. After losses to Army and UConn, CCSU knocked off Bethune-Cookman, 2-1 and 8-6, before dropping the third game of their series, 4-0. Dominic Severino is hitting at a .290 (9-31) clip with three RBI and two runs scored. Connor Fitzsimmons and seniors Josh Ingham and J.P. Sportman have all driven in a team-high four runs each. Sportman is hitting .231 (9-39) while leading the team in hits and at-bats as well as a scoring a team-high six runs. On the mound, Ingham is 1-0 with two saves in three appearances, giving up one run over six innings of work.
MULTIPLE HIT GAMES
Brian Ruditys and Vincent Guglietti are tied for the team lead with five multiple-hit games for the year, while Guglietti has collected Quinnipiac's only two three-hit games of the season. Guglietti also leads the team with four multiple-RBI games.

Mike Blumenthal currently leads Quinnipiac with a .378 (14-37) after staring 10 of the 15 games he's appeared in. Blumenthal also posted a team-best eight-game hitting streak, while his .432 slugging percentage ranks second and his .439 on-base percentage leads the team.
BLUMENTHAL IS MOVING RUNNERS
Blumenthal is also hitting a team-best .556 (5-9) with runners in scoring position. He has also delivered 11 hits in 18 opportunities to advance a runner for a team-high .611 average.

Blumenthal is currently batting .467 (7-15) when hitting with two outs – good for the team lead.
VIN-IT TO WIN-IT
Junior Vincent Guglietti checks in with a .323 (21-65) average, leading the team in hits (21), doubles (7), RBI (10), slugging percentage (.462) and walks (9). Guglietti's splits read .424 (14-33) against right-handed pitching while he is also hitting .450 (9-20) with runners in scoring position. Guglietti also leads the team with 11 two-out hits and is hitting .463 (11-26) in that situation.
Sophomore Lou Iannotti, son of the Quinnipiac Hall of Famer by the same name, has started in 16 of his first 17 career games at Quinnipiac. A transfer from Siena, Iannotti is hitting .226 (14-62) and ranks second on the Bobcats' roster in triples (3) and RBI (7). Additionally, Iannotti is hitting .607 (17-28) when advancing a runner and is hitting .294 (5-17) with runners in scoring position.
LUCKY NUMBER 13
Freshman southpaw Matthew Osieja leads Quinnipiac in relief appearances with seven, while also posting a team-best 1.80 ERA. Osieja is 2-1 on the season and has held opponents to a .189 batting average while striking out 10 in 15 innings of work.
