The Quinnipiac baseball team will travel to New Rochelle, N.Y. this weekend to take on Iona in a three game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12th at 1 and 4 PM. The series will conclude on Sunday, April 13th at 1 PM.
SCOUTING THE GAELS
Joe Torres (.259 (22-85), one triple, five doubles, eight RBI, and 15 RS) and Christian Choman (.256 (20-78), one homer, three doubles, 10 RBI, and 11 RS) lead the way offensively for Iona. Kenny Dietrich (1-0, 3.38 ERA, and 11 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings pitched) and Bill Maier (1-4, 3.93, and 13 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings) anchor the pitching rotation for the Gaels.
LAST TIME OUT AGAINST HARTFORD
Quinnipiac scored ten runs on thirteen hits in capturing a 10-4 victory over in-state rival Hartford. The win was the Bobcats third straight to improve their record to 9-16 on the season.

THE MAGIC NUMBER FOUR
The Bobcats are 7-3 in their last ten games and haven't lost a game over that stretch when scoring at least four runs. Quinnipiac has also won eight of their nine games on the season when holding opponents to four runs or less.
Quinnipiac has found their power stroke, hitting six homers in their last five games. The home run ball has been a big key in a much improved offense that has scored 33 runs in their last five games.
Junior Vincent Guglietti (East Haven, Conn) leads Quinnipiac in homers (2), doubles (7), RBI (18), and runs scored (19). Over his last five games Guglietti is 8-for-18 with two homers and six RBI.
Senior Mike Blumenthal (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and Guglietti have been extremely clutch this season, both hitting over .400 with runners in scoring position. Blumenthal is hitting .429 (6-14) and Guglietti (14-33).
MORE IS BETTER
Junior Brian Ruditys (Boothwyn, PA), sophomore Lou Iannotti (North Haven, Conn), and freshman Matthew Batten (Shelton, Conn) all have five multiple hit games on the season, placing them second on the team behind Vincent Guglietti who has seven.
MOVE 'EM ALONG, LOU
Lou Iannotti has been the Bobcats' most successful hitter in advancing runners. In 46 at-bats with runners on base, Iannotti has moved a runner up a base for a team-best .609 average.
JANKINS FINDING HIS WAY
Freshman Thomas Jankins (West Brookfield, Mass) has been dominant in his last three starts, allowing only three earned runs while striking out 15 in 20 1/3 innings pitched.
THE BOBCATS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Freshman Matthew Osieja (Wyckoff, N.J.) currently ranks among the national leaders in several pitching categories. The first-year reliever ranks 10th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (10.00), 14th in walks allower per nine innings pitched (0.71), 15th in WHIP (0.79), 47th in ERA (1.42) and 96th in hits allowed per nine innings pitched (6.39), while Justin Thomas ranks 53rd in the same category (6.00). Scott Donaghue ranks 18th in hit by pitcher per game (0.45), and 89th in total hit by pitch (9).
In his last four appearances, senior Gary Binkiewicz (Scotch Plains, N.J.) has earned three saves while allowing only one earned run and striking out two.
Quinnipiac will host Hartford on Tuesday April 15th at 3:00 PM at the QU Baseball Field in Hamden, Conn.
