Field Hockey's Shea And Cunniff Named To 2009 New England High Performance Training Squad

Quinnipiac University senior Bonnie Shea (Walpole, Mass.) and freshman Kimberly Cunniff (Walpole, Mass.) were invited to attend the 2009 New England High Performance Training program following tryouts at Providence College on May 2. Shea was invited to attend last year as well while Cunniff was selected for the first time.

Longstreth Series To Be Held At Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field On April 19

The Quinnipiac University field hockey team will host the 2009 Longstreth Series on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field in Hamden, Conn. The series will consist of six games featuring Quinnipiac, Yale, Lafayette and Massachusetts and is set to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This weekend's games are the second part of the series, with the first hosted by Lafayette on April 5.

Quinnipiac University field hockey head coach Becca Kohli announced her team awards at the 2009 Quinnipiac Field Hockey Banquet at Eli's On Whitney Restaurant in Hamden, Conn. on Sunday, March 22nd. Among those honored at the event were team captain's Megan Sciascia (Cheshire, Conn.) and Lauren Hartnett (Walpole, Mass.). Also honored at the event were Katie Van Nostrand (Derry, N.H.), Bonnie Shea (Walpole, Mass.) and Brandy Longacre (Bethlehem, Pa.).

Quinnipiac University field hockey head coach Becca Kohli has announced that Jenna Grossman (Flanders, N.J.) and Lauren Hartnett (Walpole, Mass.) will once again serve as team captains for the 2009 season in addition to Katie Van Nostrand (Derry, N.H.). The Quinnipiac University field hockey team was one of 59 honored with a 2008 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award. Quinnipiac was one of six Northeast Conference schools on the list. Quinnipiac also landed 11 players on the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.

Quinnipiac, the No. 3 seed in the NEC Tournament, takes on No. 1 Lock Haven in the semifinals of the conference tournament on Friday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. Grossman, Lauren Hartnett (Walpole, Mass.) and Katherine Van Nostrand (Derry, N.H.) were named to the All-Northeast Conference First Team while Megan Sciascia (Cheshire, Conn.) was named to the Second Team.

The Quinnipiac University field hockey team's season came to an end with a loss to Lock Haven, 4-1, in the Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals. The Bobcats finish the year at 5-13 overall. Junior Cassie Adams (Shushan, N.Y.) scored Quinnipiac's only goal of the game. The goal was Adams' second of the season and third of her career. Adams' goal came off a penalty corner.
