Field Hockey Signs Five Student-Athletes To National Letters of Intent
HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac field hockey head coach
Becca Main Kohli has announced the signing of five student-athletes
to National Letters of Intent for the 2011 season. Joining the
Bobcats in the fall are Nikki Schultz (Cortland Manor, N.Y.), Megan
Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.), Danielle Allan (Pompton Lakes, N.J.),
Emily Dillon (Canton, Mass.) and Charlotte Ryan (London,
UK).
Schultz comes to Quinnipiac from
Lakeland (N.Y.) High School where she played for the Hudson Valley
club team. Last season, Schultz scored three goals and assisted on
six more in helping Lakeland to an 18-0-1 regular season record
while the Hornets also posted 9-0-1 mark in league play.
"I chose Quinnipiac University for my
college and field hockey career because I feel it is the best
school to keep a perfect balance between academics and field
hockey," Schultz said. "I love the campus and everything about
Quinnipiac and I can't wait to enroll as a freshman in the fall!
I'm looking forward to a new environment and having an awesome and
fun time playing field hockey. I'm looking to accomplish success in
both academics and field hockey and to grow as a person. I feel
that Quinnipiac is the absolute best school for me to achieve
everything I want to and more in my four years of
college."
Conaboy, a goalkeeper, joins the
Bobcats after a successful career at Abington Heights (Pa.) High
School. Conaboy led the Wyoming Valley Conference in saves and was
named to the Pennsylvania Field Hockey Coaches Association
All-State Team
"I chose Quinnipiac because of its
high academic standards. It has a great Athletic Training program,
which is my intended major," Conaboy explained. "I have always
wanted to play field hockey at the Division I level and I feel
Quinnipiac is the best place for me to have a successful career. I
look forward to the challenges of college classes. I am excited to
be a part of the field hockey program and hope to contribute to
the success of the team. I am looking forward to the friendships
that will be made along the way."

Allan will join the Bobcats for the
2011 season after consecutive North Jersey Field Hockey Player of
the Year honors. Allan led Pompton Lakes (N.J.) to a 20-2 record
and the No. 1 ranking in the North Jersey Top 5 poll as the
Cardinals captured the Northeast Field Hockey League Division 1
Championship for the fourth consecutive year.
"I picked Quinnipiac University for
my college and field hockey career because when I visited the
school, I felt that this was the place where I would be given the
opportunity to excel," Allan said. "Academically, Quinnipiac
University offers courses for the career I plan to pursue, which is
physical therapy. As far as field hockey, the Quinnipiac program is
exactly what I was looking for. The coaches and players made me
feel at home, and I look forward to being a part of the Bobcat
family."
Allan scored a Pompton Lakes record 56
goals in 2010 and also set the career marks in goals (144) and
assists (56). Allan's career goal mark broke the record held by
former Quinnipiac stand-out Danielle Avenoso '09.
Dillon was last season's Hockomock
(Mass.) League Most Valuable Player after guiding Canton (Mass.) to
the Division 2 South Championship. Dillon, a three-time Hockomock
League All-Star, tallied 14 goals and six assists in her final year
at Canton.
"I chose Quinnipiac University as my
college choice because of the highly rated physical therapy
program, as well as the location in New England," Dillon said. "I
also loved the campus layout along with the University's
reputation."
