The Quinnipiac University field hockey placed 10
student-athletes on the 20190 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I
National Academic Squad, as announced by the National Field Hockey
Coaches Association this week. The National Academic Squad
recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative
GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2010-11
academic year.
"The academic support that this university gives to its students
is very individually-oriented and also extremely global," head
coach Becca Main Kohli said. "The professors, advisors and learning
center staff are really the reason our athletes are able to
accomplish academic accolades like this award from the NFHCA. In
the athletic department, the support from Lyneene Richardson and
her staff make it possible for our student-athletes to be
successful in the classroom as well as on the hockey pitch. I am
grateful to the support of our administration and academic
staff."
MacKenzie Liptak (Schuylerville, N.Y.) and Megan McCreedy (White
River, South Africa) headlined the list of Quinnipiac honorees as
they have been recognized for four consecutive years by SGI/NFHCA.
Also named to the squad were Amanda Danziger (Smithtown, N.Y.),
Nicole Lewis (East Amherst, N.Y.), Kacie McCreesh (Perkasie, Pa.),
Christa Romano (Madison, N.J.), Jess Rusin (Garwood, N.J.), Nicole
Serrante (Bridgewater, N.J.), Katie Van Nostrand (Derry, N.H.) and
Lauren Zimniski (Dallas, Pa.).
Earlier this year, the 10 Bobcats were also named to the Northeast
Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll while Lewis was named to the
Commissioners' Honor Roll, which recognizes those with a 3.75
grade-point average or higher. The team was also recognized with
the National Academic Team Award which recognizes those
institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first
semester of the 2010-11 academic year.
