Quinnipiac field hockey freshman Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second straight term. Allan was also named the Co- Rookie of the Week by the conference on Oct. 24 with Sacred Heart's Sarah Bergman.
Allan's three goal effort against Sacred Heart was the difference as Quinnipiac knocked-off its in-state rival, 5-2, to clinch the third seed in the upcoming Northeast Conference Tournament. Allan put the Bobcats on the board three minutes into the game before adding two late in regulation to slam the door on the Pioneers.
It marked the third consecutive game that Allan scored the goal, joining senior captain Kimberly Cunniff (Walpole, Mass.) as the only two players to do so this season. Allan also becomes the first Quinnipiac freshman in program history to score in three straight games as she pushes her single-season total to eight goals, the second most for a first-year player.
Allan was also named the NEC Co-Player and Rookie of the Week on Aug. 29, 2011.
The Bobcats resume play this weekend when they take on second-seeded Monmouth in the first game of the Northeast Conference Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at Rider's Ben Cohen Field in Lawrenceville, N.J.
