Field Hockey's Nicole Lewis Honored As Top Graduate In School of Health Science
Quinnipiac field hockey senior Nicole Lewis (Amherst, N.Y.) was honored by Quinnipiac University after accumulating the highest grade-point average in the university's School of Health Science, while earning her degree in athletic training. Lewis carried a cumulative GKPA of 3.97 in four years at Quinnipiac. In Fall 2012, Lewis will enroll in Quinnipiac’s Physical Therapy Doctoral program, while also suiting up for the Bobcats for her final year of eligibility.

Quinnipiac field hockey sophomore Christa Romano (Madison, N.J.) and current assistant coach Jaime Cassesse, a two-time All-Northeast Conference First Team selection in 2005 and 2006 at Quinnipiac, have been selected to compete on the 2012 USA Field Hockey North High Performance Training Squad.

Field Hockey Places 12 On Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad
The Quinnipiac University field hockey placed 12 student-athletes on the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA National Academic Squad, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association today. In addition, Quinnipiac also received a National Academic Team Award by the NFHCA after the team posted a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average.

Field Hockey To Face No. 2 Monmouth In NEC Tournament Semifinal On Friday, Nov. 4 At 11 A.M.
Quinnipiac will square-off against Monmouth in the 2011 Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at Rider University’s Ben Cohen Field in Lawrenceville, N.J. Quinnipiac clinched the 3rd seed in the tournament with a 5-2 win against Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 29 as it won its last three NEC games on its way to a 11-7 overall mark and a 5-2 record in league play. Monmouth concluded the regular season at 14-5 overall and 6-1 in the NEC, with its only loss coming to top-ranked Rider.

The third-seeded Quinnipiac field hockey team (11-8, 5-2 NEC) lost to No. 2 Monmouth (15-5, 6-1 NEC), 1-0, in the first semifinal game of the 2011 Northeast Conference Tournament on Friday morning. The Bobcats end the season at 11-8 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

Quinnipiac field hockey senior Kimberly Cunniff (Walpole, Mass.) was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Year at the conference’s annual year-end banquet, announced by the conference office today.. Cunniff was also named to the All-NEC First Team, along with teammate Megan McCreedy (White River, South Africa) while Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa.) was named to the All- NEC Second Team.

The Bobcats enter the game with a record of 10-7 overall and 4-2 in the NEC while Sacred Heart is 6-11 overall and 3-3 and NEC play.A Quinnipiac win on Friday would clinch the third seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament (Nov. 4-5) to be hosted by top-seed Rider University.

Senior Megan McCreedy (White River, South Africa) recorded assist No. 13 of the year, and 25th of her career, breaking the single-season and career records at Quinnipiac as the Bobcats defeated Bryant, 2-0, at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. The Bobcats improve to 10-7 on the season and 4-2 in the NEC with the win.

Field Hockey Travels To Siena On Friday, Oct. 21; Will Host Senior Day Against Bryant On Sunday, Oct. 23
Quinnipiac field hockey will travel to Loudonville, N.Y. to take on Siena on Friday, Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. before returing home to host Bryant on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 12 p.m. Quinnipiac is currently 2-2 in the NEC and sits in fourth place, while Bryant, 1-3, is tied for fifth. Siena, 0-4, hosts the Bobcats in search of their first NEC win of the season.

Megan McCreedy (White River, South Africa) handed out three assists to tie the Quinnipiac single-season and career assist records as the Quinnipiac field hockey team defeated Siena, 6-1, in a Northeast Conference match-up. With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 9-7 overall and 3-2 in the NEC while Siena drops to 0-16 overall and 0-5 in the NEC.

The top four teams in the Northeast Conference converge on New Jersey this weekend when Monmouth and Sacred Heart host Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart. The Bobcats will play at Monmouth on Friday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. before heading to Lawrenceville, N.J. to take on Rider on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 12 p.m. Quinnipiac, Rider and Monmouth are all 2-0 in the NEC, while Sacred Heart - who play at Rider on Friday and Monmouth on Sunday - are 1-1.

Quinnipiac senior Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa.) scored twice, but the Bobcats lost to Monmouth, 3-2, in a battle of the unbeatens in West Long Branch, N.J. With the loss, Quinnipiac goes to 2-1 in NEC play and 8-6 overall while Monmouth remains undefeated in conference play at 3-0.

The Quinnipiac field hockey team will host Robert Morris and Saint Francis (Pa.) this weekend for its first two Northeast Conference match-ups of the year.Quinnipiac field hockey will host its annual “Play For The Cure” game to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research when the Bobcats host Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 12 p.m. There will be raffle giveaways, various items for sale as well as a bake sale. The Bobcats go to 6-3 on the season while Maine wins its 10th straight game to improve to 10-1 on the year.

Quinnipiac is currently 6-2 on the season after winning three straight while Maine is 8-1, with wins in each of its last eight games. The Bobcats are currently tied for the 18th best record in Division I field hockey and rank among the top 25 in Average Computer Rating (ACR) and Strength of Schedule (SOS).

Quinnipiac field hockey sophomore Jess Rusin (Garwood, N.J.) scored a career-best three goals for her first career hat trick as the Bobcats defeated Colgate, 6-0. Quinnipiac improves to 3-1 on the season while Colgate drops to 1-3 on the season. The hat trick was the first for the Bobcats since Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa.) scored three times against Lehigh in last year's season-opener.

Field Hockey Beats Yale In Shootout, 3-2
Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa.) scored the game-winning goal in a shootout as Quinnipiac rallied against Yale, 3-2. Yale led, 2-1, at halftime before Kim Cunniff’s (Walpole, Mass.) blast off a corner tied the game and sent it overtime. After two periods of scoreless, overtime play, the game was ultimately decided with Quinnipiac out-shot Yale, 4-2, in the penalty stroke-off. With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 2-1 on the season while Yale drops to 0-2.

Quinnipiac field hockey freshman Danielle Allan (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) was named the Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week. The first year Bobcat matched the efforts of two-time NEC Player of the Year Virginia Egusquiza of Rider with a two-goal, one-assist outing against Holy Cross on Friday, Aug. 26 in the Bobcats’ 6-2 season-opening win.

HAMDEN, Conn. - Two days after scoring the first NCAA Division I Field Hockey goal of the 2011 season, Quinnipiac senior Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa.) was featured on GoLakawanna.com in a feature by Tom Robinson. The senior forward is the active leading career goal-scorer on the Bobcats' roster and ranks 14th all-time in career points at Quinnipiac. Notarianni spoke with Robinson about her expectations for the team this year.

Field Hockey Defeats Holy Cross, 6-2, In Season Opener
Freshman Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.) became the first player in Quinnipiac’s Division I history to score twice in her first career game as the Quinnipiac field hockey team defeated Holy Cross, 6-2, in its 2011 season opener at the QU Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field in Hamden, Conn. Allan also factored into a third goal with an assist, giving her five points and the most a Quinnipiac player has scored in their first collegiate debut. The Bobcats’ six goals are the most they have scored in a season-opener in Division I history and the most scored against a Division I opponent in program history.
