Field Hockey Advances To Hofstra Asics Spring Tournament Championship Game
The Quinnipiac field hockey team was the runner-up at the Hofstra Asics Spring Tournament. The Bobcats advanced to the Championship game after posting a 1-0-3 record before losing to Drexel, 2-0.
Each game was 25 minutes, with Quinnipiac tying Drexel and Columbia before defeating Hofstra, 1-0, on a goal by Jess Rusin (Garwood, N.J.). They then played Delaware to a 0-0 tie before moving to the championship game against Drexel.
The Bobcats had a strong defensive showing by Amanda Danziger (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Cate Colucci (Gloucester, R.I.). Senior goalkeeper Nicole Lewis (Amherst, N.Y.) and freshman Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.) had and outstanding tournament, stringing together four straight scoreless efforts. Quinnipiac's attack transition was led by Christa Romano (Madison, N.J.) and Lauren Zimniski (Dallas, Pa.) with a strong showing on the forward line by Jess Portal (Avon, Conn.).
Quinnipiac is back in action on Saturday, April 28 when it hosts the Longstreth Spring Challenge, featuring Boston University, Boston College, Hofstra, UMass and Brown, at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Complex in Hamden, Conn.
