Quinnipiac field hockey raised $1,688 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation during its annual "Play for the Cure" game against Siena on Friday, Oct. 26. The fundraiser was held in support of the foundation's efforts in breast cancer awareness and research.
Parent's of Quinnipiac's field hockey student-athletes organized a "Chance Auction" in which individuals purchased raffle tickets for a chance at winning a variety of gift bags that included gift certificates to several local businesses. The grand prize was a flat screen television. Parents and fans of the visiting Siena Saints also contributed to the fundraiser.
Quinnipiac's "Play for the Cure" game is in conjunction with the national efforts coordinated by Longstreth. In addition, it is also part of Quinnipiac's "Positive Play" initiative which encourages community involvement by Quinnipiac student-athletes, coaches and administration.
