HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac field hockey senior captain Jennalise Taylor (Yardley, Pa.) had a goal and an assist to lead the Bobcats to a 4-0 win against Vermont in a non-conference match-up at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey complex in Hamden, Conn.
In addition to Taylor's goal, Danielle Allan (Riverdale, N.J.), Meghan McCullough (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) and Christa Romano (Madison, N.J.) also scored for the Bobcats. In goal, Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.) stopped all four shots on goal for her first career shutout.
Taylor put Quinnipiac on the board early when she collected a loose ball in front of the Catamounts' cage after a flurry of shots on the Vermont goal. Taylor also set-up Allan with her third goal of the year, all of which came in her last two games. It was also her 15th career goal, good for 14th all-time in Quinnipiac history. Coming off a corner, Taylor took a pass from Jess Rusin (Garwood, N.J.) to the left of the Vermont goal and zipped the ball across the goal mouth where Allan was waiting to one-time the shot past Vermont keeper Stephanie Zygmunt.
With 10 minutes to play in the first half, sophomore Savanna Reilly (Hamden, Conn.) controlled the ball and moved into the Catamounts defensive zone. Reilly played the ball behind the Catamounts' defense where McCullough was waiting to deposit her first goal of the year, and second of her career. Reilly's assist was her first career point.
With time expired in regulation, Romano took a corner, and sent a pass to Amanda Danzigerat the top of the cirle. The ball was played to the right to Kristen Engelke, who fired a shot on goal. Romano slid over to the corner and tipped the ball past Vermont's goal to give Quinnipiac a 4-0 lead with no time remaining.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 22 when it hosts Saint Joseph's University at 2 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Turf Complex in Hamden, Conn. Free live video will be available for the afternoon match-up at YouTube.com/QuinnipiacAthletics.
