Megan Conaboy and Jess Rusin Receive MAAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

Quinnipiac senior Jess Rusin and sophomore Megan Conaboy were honored with weekly awards from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, as announced on Oct. 15, 2013. Rusin was named Offensive Player of the Week while Conaboy earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

In a pair of wins, including a 4-1 win against Sacred Heart University in Quinnipiac's first MAAC competition in program history, Rusin totaled two goals and two assists for the week. Against Brown University, on Oct. 9, Rusin scored the game's first goal less than three minutes into the game. She then picked up an assist on Jennalise Taylor's game-winning goal in the 50th minute of play. Against Sacred Heart, Rusin assisted on the Bobcats' first goal of the game before making history in the second half. Rusin's team-leading ninth goal of the year was her 32nd of her career, breaking Quinnipiac's career goals record, previously held by Heather Cady '02. She now trails Cady (80) with 78 career points.

In a 2-0 week, Conaboy stopped six of eight shots on goal for a .750 save percentage while her two goals allowed in 140 minutes accounted for a 1.00 goals-against average. The sophomore stopped four of five shots on goal in a 2-1 win against Brown on Oct. 9 before saving two of three against Sacred Heart in a 4-1 win. For the year, Conaboy is 8-5 with a .705 save percentage and a 2.54 goals-against-average.

Conaboy was previously honored as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23, 2013. Kristin Engelke (Medford, N.J.) was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 3, 2013.
