QuinnipiacBobcats.com and QU Athletic Social Media Sites Report Record Numbers For 2011-12 Academic Year

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Official Website of Quinnipiac Athletics, www.QuinnipiacBobcats.com, recorded close to four million hits in 2011-12. In addition, Quinnipiac’s social media sites also reached all-time highs. Most notably, the Department of Athletics and Recreation’s “QUTube” YouTube page reached 245 subscribers and just under 350,000 views to date, including more than 130,000 views in 2011-12. With over 1,100 videos “QUTube” has given Quinnipiac Athletics’ fans, families and friends an all-access portal to their favorite Bobcats student-athletes and coaches.

"These record numbers of visitor's, friends, followers and subscribers are amazing and show the tremendous growth of Quinnipiac Athletics and Recreation,” Director of Athletics & Recreation Jack McDonald said. “This could not have occurred without the daily updates by our sports information staff, the support from Quinnipiac’s  Information and Technology staff, the success of our teams and the enthusiastic support of our students, staff, alumni and fans. We look forward to even more utilization of our many sites and networks in 2012-13."

Quinnipiac Athletics’ Official Facebook page, which can be found by searching for “Boomer Bobcat Quinnipiac” has “friended” over 1,600 users and features up-to-the-minute news, scores and highlights as a compliment to QuinnipiacBobcats.com. “Boomer Bobcat Quinnipiac” has been viewed 789,384 times. Quinnipiac’s Twitter account, @QUAthletics, has produced more than 5,500 tweets viewable by the pages 1,800 followers. On Foursquare, Quinnipiac Athletics’ Recreation Center, playing fields and York Hill’s TD Bank Sports Center have combined to receive closet to 5,000 check-ins.
