COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Despite facing one of the top teams in the nation, the Quinnipiac acrobatics & tumbling team held its own against Maryland on Friday evening, narrowly falling to the Terrapins, 290.560 – 283.000. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 0-4 on the season, while Maryland improves to 2-0 on the year.

The two teams were in fierce competition beginning with the meet's first event, as Maryland edged Quinnipiac in compulsories, 38.8 – 38.7. The Bobcats were the only team in the event to tally a perfect score, earning a perfect 10 (out of a possible 10 points) in the pyramid heat. The Bobcats also received the second highest score in the event, compiling a 9.9 in the toss heat.

The Terps took the next event, acro, with a score of 27.85 compared to the Bobcats' 27.44. Quinnipiac would respond by taking the final event before halftime, the pyramid, with an event score of 29.70, compared to Maryland's 29.55, tightening the score at halftime, 96.20 – 95.84.

Maryland came out of the locker rooms strong with a winning score of 29.50 – 28.7 in the toss event, as well as a win the following tumbling event, 58.05 – 56.65. In first heat of tumbling, the duo, Quinnipiac matched Maryland's score of 9.5, and earned its highest total in the event in the final open heat, with a score of 9.95.

Quinnipiac experienced its best team routine performance of the season, the final event of the evening, earning a  score of 101.66. The total marked the first time this season the team earned triple-digits in the team routine; however, the Terps' team routine score of 106.56 topped Quinnipiac's, helping to secure its second victory of the season.

Quinnipiac looks to rebound on Sunday, March 11 when it travels to Fairmont, W.Va. to face Baylor and Fairmont State in its second tri-meet of the season at 5 p.m.
