Jon Teitel's All-Conference Teams (Pre-League Play Edition)
HAMDEN, Conn. – Sophomore Ike Azotam (Boston, Mass.) of the Quinnipiac University men's basketball was tabbed to the CollegeHoops.Net All-Northeast Conference Pre-League Play Team, announced by Jon Teitel on Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Azotam has led the way for the Bobcats through the first two months, leading the team to a 7-5 mark as the bulk of conference competition approaches.
Azotam has led Quinnipiac in several statistical categories through the first 12 games. He has averaged 16.3 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and one steal per outing for the Bobcats, which includes career-highs in points (32) and rebounds (18). Azotam has posted a double-double in eight games, giving him a total of 10 for his career. Furthermore, he moved into fourth place among active NEC players with his double-double against UMass on Dec. 17.
Azotam is also a large reason that the Bobcats rank among the nation's best in rebounding. QU ranks first in offensive rebounds per game, second in rebounds per game and is third in rebounding margin. From an individual standpoint, Azotam leads the NEC in rebounds and offensive rebounds per game, and ranks eighth and 10th in the nation, respectively.
The Bobcats return to the hardwood on Saturday, December 31 with a home game against Boston University. Tip-off with the Terriers is set for 12 p.m. with a live broadcast on NESN and SNY.
