SOMERSET, N.J. - Freshman forward Ousmane Drame (Boston, Mass.) of the Quinnipiac University men's basketball team has been tabbed the Choice Hotels/NEC Rookie of the Week, announced on Monday, January 30, 2012 by the league office. Drame put together two tremendous performances last week and helped the Bobcats to a 1-1 record over the three-day span.

"Ousmane Drame continues to have a very impressive freshman season for us," said Head Coach Tom Moore. "His impact scoring and on both backboards has been essential for the team, especially with the loss of Jamee Jackson in our frontcourt. Ousmane improves every day and we hope for continued contributions from him the rest of the way."

Drame averaged 8.5 points and 12 rebounds in two home games, earning his second Choice Hotels/NEC Rookie of the Week honor of the season. Drame was a driving force in his team's comeback win over Mount St. Mary's on Thursday night, matching a career-high with 13 points and pulling down a career-best 15 boards in the 69-66 overtime victory. The 6-foot-9 Boston, Mass. native made the game's key play in overtime with an offensive rebound and put-back to give the Bobcats a three-point edge with 19 seconds remaining. He also added two assists and a steal while shooting 5-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from the line. Drame then continued to clean the glass in a 51-50 setback to Wagner, grabbing nine boards, including seven on the offensive end.

Drame ranks tenth overall in the NEC and second among league freshman with 7.0 rebounds per game despite playing just 18.5 minutes per contest. The Bobcats lead the nation in offensive rebounding and are second in total rebounding and rebounding margin.

The Bobcats are back in action on Thursday, February 2 at Fairleigh Dickinson. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
