BOSTON, Mass. - Quinnipiac University men's basketball and the TD Bank Sports Center were featured in the Boston Globe on Tuesday, March 21, 2012. The story, written by Boston Globe Columnist Bob Ryan, highlights QU's five-year old arena as the "showcase facility of New England."
Ryan, a college basketball guru, traveled to all 21 Division I basketball institutions in New England this past season, leading to the development of his latest story. Last on his list of schools was a trip to the Bobcats' hardwood for a Northeast Conference showdown with St. Francis (N.Y.). Ryan reveals his experience at Quinnipiac, referring to TD Bank Sports Center as one of the best in the region.
Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald and power forward Ike Azotam are also featured in the article. Ryan credits McDonald for spearheading the construction of The Bank, while praising Azotam for his stellar sophomore campaign.
The Bobcats are certainly looking forward to the 2012-13 season. The team will travel to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands next season to compete in the 2012 Paradise Jam. It will be the first in-season, invitational tournament in Bobcats history.
