CROMWELL, Conn. – Quinnipiac Men’s Basketball Head Coach Tom Moore and Assistant Coach Scott Burrell participated in the 2012 Travelers Celebrity Pro-Am at the TPC River Highlands, a portion of the weekend that features PGA TOUR professionals and celebrities from the world of sports and entertainment. Women’s Golf Head Coach John O'Connor provided his expertise in the game of golf by serving as Coach Burrell’s caddy for the afternoon.

Coach Moore took an early tee time for the event and had the privilege of joining George Blaney and Bo Van Pelt. George Blaney, who still currently serves as the top assistant for UConn Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jim Calhoun, and Moore were on the same staff for the Huskies’ 2004 Championship run. PGA Tour professional Bo Van Pelt has three PGA wins to his name and ranks among the top 50 in the world. He went on to claim 24th in the Travelers Championship.

The Travelers Championship is proud to participate in the PGA TOUR Tradition of Giving Back. Since its inception in 1952, Connecticut’s PGA TOUR event has donated more than $30 million to charities in the surrounding community.

On the final day, Marc Leishman fired a bogey-free 62 in the final round of the Championship to win the title by one stroke over multiple time TOUR winners Charley Hoffman and Bubba Watson.
