Men’s Basketball Suffers First MAAC Setback at Rider, 90-78
Despite a valiant second-half effort and 24 points from Ike Azotam (Boston, Mass.), the Quinnipiac University men’s basketball team fell short to Rider University, 90-78, in its first MAAC road game on Sunday afternoon. Azotam and Shaq Shannon (Philadelphia, Pa.) each posted season highs offensively in the losing effort.

The Quinnipiac University men’s basketball team (5-2, 1-0 MAAC) will get its first glimpse of MAAC competition in hostile territory on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013. Junior guard Zaid Hearst (Bethesda, Md.) of the Quinnipiac University men’s basketball team was recently named to the MAAC CollegeHoopsDaily.com Team for the month of November, announced on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. Hearst led the Bobcats to a 4-1 record throughout the month, while averaging a double-double during the five-game stint.

Men’s Basketball Holds Off Fairfield for First MAAC Win, 83-79
Ousmane Drame (Boston, Mass.) was one point shy of matching his career high and Ike Azotam (Boston, Mass.) chipped in with his 31st career double-double, as the Quinnipiac University men's basketball team outlasted cross-state foe Fairfield, 83-79, in its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game in program history. The Bobcats improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in league play, while also moving to 9-1 in their last 10 games at the TD Bank Sports Center.

Quinnipiac men’s basketball was firing on all cylinders on Monday night. Umar Shannon (Atlantic City, N.J.) scored his 1,000th career point and Quinnipiac set a new Division I margin of victory record, as the Bobcats cruised past Maine, 102-61, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. The win was Quinnipiac’s third straight, and matches the team’s best start (4-1) since the 2010-11 season.

Men’s Basketball Helps Out at Connecticut Special Olympics
As a demonstration to its commitment to community service, the Quinnipiac University men's basketball team brought joy several athletes on Sunday morning, as the Bobcats joined the Connecticut Special Olympics at the QU Recreation Center on the Mount Carmel Campus. Team members took pictures, presented medals, and cheered on participants at the annual Holiday Sports Classic, which featured hundreds of competitors from all over the state.

Quinnipiac clawed its way back from 10 down late in the second half, and Umar Shannon (Atlantic City, N.J.) knocked down the game-winning shot with 1.6 seconds left, as the Bobcats defeated Hampton University, 71-68, at the TD Bank Sports Center on Wednesday night. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 3-1 on the year and extended its home-winning streak to eight straight dating back to last season.

Kasim Chandler Named MAAC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
Freshman Kasim Chandler (Newark, N.J.) of the Quinnipiac University men’s basketball team has been named the MAAC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, which was officially announced on Monday, Nov. 18 2013 by the league’s front office. Chandler averaged 16 points in two games for the Bobcats last week, which included a breakout performance against La Salle on national television.

Although they surely enjoyed the experience of playing on ESPN2, the Bobcats are looking forward to the fact that their next game won't require a 5 a.m. wakeup call. The Quinnipiac University men's basketball team (1-1, 0-0 MAAC) returns to the hardwood on Saturday, November 16, 2013 with its home-opener of the 2013-14 campaign. Prior to the game, several former Quinnipiac players will reunite and partake in the 2013 Alumni Game, which is open for the public to watch at 11 a.m. After that, the Bobcats welcome 2012 America East Champion Albany to Hamden for a 2 p.m. tip-off at the Bank.

Bobcats Come Up Short at La Salle in ESPN Tip-Off Marathon, 73-67
Senior Ike Azotam (Boston, Mass.) and freshman Kasim Chandler (Newark, N.J.) shined in the Bobcats' 2013-14 national television debut on Tuesday morning, but it was La Salle University who held on to escape with a 73-67 victory over the Quinnipiac University men's basketball team at Tom Gola Arena. Second Half Surge Sends Men’s Basketball Past Hartford, 82-77
Led by Ike Azotam’s (Boston, Mass.) 20-point, 13-rebound double-double, the Quinnipiac University men's basketball team mounted a tremendous comeback to erase an 11 point first-half deficit and defeat Hartford, 82-77, on Saturday afternoon in the first game of the 2013 Connecticut 6 Classic. With the win, Quinnipiac improved to 4-1 since the tournament began back in 2009 and 6-1 in season-openers under the direction of head coach Tom Moore.

Quinnipiac University was selected as the top team among the Connecticut 6 schools in the annual preseason men’s basketball coaches’ poll. The rest of the ranking included the University of Hartford as the second team, followed by Yale University, Fairfield University, Central Connecticut, and Sacred Heart University. The ranking was based upon the vote of the six head coaches.
