BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Quinnipiac University was selected as the top team among the Connecticut 6 schools in the annual preseason men's basketball coaches' poll. The rest of the ranking included the University of Hartford as the second team, followed by Yale University, Fairfield University, Central Connecticut, and Sacred Heart University. The ranking was based upon the vote of the six head coaches.
Quinnipiac took the top spot with 30 points, eclipsing Hartford's 28 points. Yale University was next in line with 24 points while Fairfield University collected 22 markers. Central Connecticut was fifth with 16 points while Sacred Heart was sixth with six points.

The Connecticut 6 Classic will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year when the six schools converge on Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, the site for the first-ever Classic in 2009. The first game will feature the top two teams in the poll as Quinnipiac and Hartford tip off at 3 pm. Central Connecticut and Yale University will follow at 5:30 pm, while Fairfield and Sacred Heart complete the tripleheader at 8 pm.
