NEW YORK, N.Y. – Junior Zaid Hearst (Bethesda, Md.) of the Quinnipiac men's basketball team was featured on NYC Big Apple Buckets on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014. The article, which was written by columnist and Quinnipiac graduate Vincent Simone, highlights Hearst's breakout season and the Bobcats early success within the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Hearst and the Bobcats are off to a 4-2 start in conference play and includes wins over perennial powers, Iona and Manhattan. Hearst is averaging 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game – both ranking him among the conference leaders. Hearst was named to the CollegeHoopsDaily.com All-November Team as well.
Hearst is right around 10 points and five rebounds for his career at Quinnipiac. The 6-4 guard set a career-high with 23 points against Iona on Jan. 6. He was 9-of-11 from the floor and 3-for-3 from long range. He added 11 rebounds to complete his sixth double-double of the season.
Quinnipiac is back in action on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 with a home game against Monmouth. The Bobcats and the Hawks square off for the second time in two weeks on Lender Court at the TD Bank Sports Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
