HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University men's basketball head coach Tom Moore was featured on CollegeInsider.com on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014. Moore joined College Insider's Brian Doyle for a brief conversation on the Bobcats' 2013-14 campaign and the transition to the new conference.
Moore and the Bobcats are 11-6 overall and 6-2 in league play. Winners in five of their last six games, Quinnipiac is tied with three other teams for first place in the standings - two of which it holds the head-to-head tie-breaker with. Moore has upped his career total to 119 wins at Quinnipiac.
Credit Quinnipiac's intensity on the backboards for the team's success thus far, as the Bobcats lead the nation in each of the three major rebounding categories. Quinnipiac ranks first in total rebounding (47.5), offensive rebounding (18.2) and rebounding margin (14.1). Three Bobcat players – Ike Azotam, Ousmane Drame and Zaid Hearst – serve as three of the top rebounders in the MAAC. Azotam and Drame rank No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, and are the only two teammates in the country averaging at least 12.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Up next for the Bobcats, the team heads to Iona on Friday, Jan. 24 and then Manhattan on Sunday, Jan. 26. Quinnipiac's 7 p.m. tilt with the Gaels will be televised live on ESPN3.
