STORRS, Conn. – Quinnipiac University men's basketball assistant coach Scott Burrell was featured on The UConn Blog on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014. The Hamden native starred at UConn and enjoyed a lengthy professional basketball career which included an NBA title. He was kind enough to answer a few questions for his fans.
Burrell, one of the most accomplished players in the history of collegiate basketball in the state of Connecticut, enters his seventh season as an assistant coach of the Quinnipiac men's basketball program. Burrell joined Tom Moore's staff in July 2007 after a professional career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) that spanned more than a decade and included a World Championship title with the Chicago Bulls.
TUCB: What is the greatest part about being an Assistant Coach at Quinnipiac and how the season looks for the rest of the year.
SB: Being able to pass on what I know and what I've learned from experiences, coaches and life lessons, and then see our guys achieve and compete is rewarding. My father has taught me to listen and learn, listen and watch those around you who have achieved, it is a continuous part of growing as a person and player. Our guys have a lot of respect for the coaches and our program, we are working towards a successful year.
Quinnipiac is back in action this weekend with arguably its most difficult two-game set of the season. The Bobcats head to Iona on Friday, Jan. 24 and then Manhattan on Sunday, Jan. 26. Quinnipiac's 7 p.m. tilt with the Gaels will be televised live on ESPN3.
