HAMDEN, Conn. – Ike Azotam (Boston, Mass.) has again caught the attention on Jon Teitel, a basketball columnist for CollegeHoopsDaily.com. Teitel released his picks for the best players in each conference, and Azotam found his name on the list.
Azotam is averaging 16.7 points and 11.0 rebounds through all 23 games for the Bobcats. He leads the league and is ranked fourth in the nation in rebounding. He is second in the country in offensive rebounding and has 14 double-doubles on the year.
In addition to Quinnipiac's senior forward, Teitel also named Antoine Mason (Niagara), Billy Baron (Canisius), George Beamon (Manhattan), and Sean Armand (Iona) from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Canisius' Billy Baron was selected as the MAAC Player of the Year (so far).
Quinnipiac returns to action on Thursday night with a trip to Bridgeport to take on Fairfield University at Webster Bank Arena. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. and will be aired live on ESPN3 – courtesy of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
