EDISON, N.J. – Quinnipiac junior forward Ousmane Drame (Boston, Mass.) has been named MAAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this year, announced by the league office on Monday, February 24, 2014.
Drame has been terrific through the second half of the season, and put together two of his best performances to date last week. Drame averaged 20.0 points and 15.5 rebounds in the two games while collecting his 20th and 21st career double-doubles. He scored 14 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked a shot against Canisius – shooting 50.0 percent (4-8) from the floor and 75.0 percent (6-8) from the free-throw line. In the following game, Drame set a new career-high with 26 points and snatched a game-high of 18 rebounds in the triumph. He was 10-of-12 (.833) from the field and 6-of-8 (.750) from the free-throw line, while collecting a career high of nine offensive rebounds. Drame logged 35 minutes in the winning effort.
Quinnipiac, who improved to 19-8 overall and 14-4 in league play, received its highest RPI ranking (81) of the season on Monday. Drame has been an instrumental piece to the puzzle, averaging 13.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per game this year. He has 12 double-doubles and ranks second in the MAAC in rebounding and blocked shots.
Quinnipiac returns home for its final game at the TD Bank Sports Center this year. The Bobcats welcome Siena College to Hamden on Thursday, Feb. 27 for an 8:30 p.m. tip-off at the Bank. The game will be televised live on ESPN3, courtesy of the MAAC.
