HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac's seven-game winning streak hasn't gone unnoticed around mid-major college basketball. In the most recent poll, the Bobcats claimed the 25th slot in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll, which was released on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014.
Quinnipiac improved to 19-8 overall and 14-4 in the MAAC with its latest weekend sweep of Canisius and Niagara. Winners in eight of their last nine games, the Bobcats currently sit in second place in the league standings with just two regular season games left to play.
The lone undefeated team in the nation, Wichita State (29-0), retained its top ranking in the poll. Stephen F. Austin (25-2) is right behind the Shockers, while Gonzaga (23-6), North Dakota State (21-6) and Harvard (22-4) round out the top five spots in the census.
Joining Quinnipiac in the poll from the MAAC are Iona (19-8) and Manhattan (20-7). Canisius received votes.
Quinnipiac returns home for its final game at the TD Bank Sports Center this year. The Bobcats welcome Siena College to Hamden on Thursday, Feb. 27 for an 8:30 p.m. tip-off at the Bank. The game will be televised live on ESPN3, courtesy of the MAAC.
