Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Incoming Freshman Kellen Jones Selected By Edmonton Oilers In 2010 NHL Draft
Quinnipiac incoming freshman Kellen Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) was selected with the 22nd pick of the seventh round, #$%^making him the 202nd player taken, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Jones is set to attend Quinnipiac in the fall following a stellar #$%^career with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League, where he played alongside twin brother, Connor, who is #$%^also attending Quinnipiac.

Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Places 19 On ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team
The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey had 19 student-athletes named to the 2009-10 ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team, as #$%^announced by the league office on Tuesday, June 23. The 19 Bobcats named to the team are the most in Quinnipiac's history #$%^and the second most in ECAC Hockey this season, trailing Brown with 28.

Scott Zurevinski Named Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Captain For 2010-11 Season
Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Head Coach Rand Pecknold has announced that junior Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) will serve as the Bobcats' captain for the 2010-11 season. Senior Zach Hansen (White Bear Lake, Minn.) and junior Mike Glaicar (Kamloops, British Columbia) were also named as assistant captains.

Dan Clarke Named Men's Ice Hockey Most Valuable Player At Annual Awards Banquet
Sophomore Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ont.) was named the Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Most Valuable Player at the team's annual year-end banquet at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. Senior captain Jean-Marc Beaudoin (St. Paul, Alb.) was given the Coaches Award, while Mike Atkinson (Sparta, N.J.) and Greg Holt (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) were given the team's Seventh Player Award. Yuri Bouharevich (Montreal, Que.) earned the Academic Award while freshman Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.) was honored with the Rookie of the Year Award.

Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Freshman Mike Dalhuisen To Play For Dutch National Team
Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey freshman Mike Dalhuisen (Nymegen, Holland) has been selected to play for the Dutch National Team at the 2010 IIHF Division I World Championships in Tilburg, Holland. The round-robin tournament will run from April 19 and through April 25, with the Netherlands facing Japan, Ukraine, Latvia, Austria and Serbia, all of which comprise Group A. Dalhuisen previously played for the Netherlands' U18 and U20 teams.

Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Captain Jean-Marc Beaudoin Named Lowe's Senior CLASS All-American
Just prior to the start of the NCAA Division I Frozen Four in at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich., the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award and All-American Teams were announced. Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey senior captain Jean-Marc Beaudoin was named to the Second Team. Earlier this season, Beaudoin was announced as one of the 20 men's ice hockey student-athletes up for consideration for the award that recognizes athletic achievement, classroom excellence and community involvement. Earlier this month, following a two-month fan voting process, Beaudoin was named one of the ten finalists. Cornell's Colin Greening was named the 2010 award winner.

Quinnipiac University senior Mike Atkinson (Sparta, N.J.) was honored as the Joe Tomasello Award recipient for the 2009-10 season. Presented annually by the New England Hockey Writers Association, the award goes to the Unsung Hero in New England.

Members of the Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team made a special delivery to the children in the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Wednesday, March 31. The Bobcats dropped off close to 20 plastic bags full of stuffed animals to the children's cancer center.

Brandon Wong Signs With AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, Top Affiliate Of NHL's Detroit Red Wings
Quinnipiac University senior Brandon Wong (Victoria, B.C.) has been signed to a professional contract by the American Hockey League's (AHL) Grand Rapids (Mich.) Griffins, the top affiliate of the National Hockey League's (NHL) Detroit Red Wings. Wong will make his professional debut on Thursday, March 25 against the Milwaukee Admirals at 8 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wisc.

Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey's Dan Clarke Named ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week
Quinnipiac University sophomore Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ont.) was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week after a record-breaking performance against Union in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals this past weekend. Clarke recorded 73 saves in the Bobcats 3-2 win against Union on Friday, March 12 in the first game of the ECAC Hockey Quarters in what would turn out to be the longest game (150:22) in NCAA history.

Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold will appear on ESPN Radio's The Back Page with Jason Page on Monday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. Pecknold has just completed his 16th year as the Bobcats' head coach. This season, Quinnipiac posted their 10th 20-win season in its last 12 years while Pecknold also won his 300th career game on March 7, 2010. On Friday, March 12, Quinnipiac played in the longest game in NCAA college hockey history, winning 3-2 in the 5th overtime against Union College.

Baseball Loses First Game To William & Mary, 11-4, Second Game Suspended In 8th Inning
The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to the College of William & Mary in a non-conference game played in Williamsburg, Va. The game was actually the first of a doubleheader, with Quinnipiac losing the first game, 11-4, before the second game was suspended in the eighth inning due to heavy rain. William & Mary leads that game, 9-3. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 0-7 on the season while the Tribe improves to 7-5 on the season. Senior Brian Monack (Branford, Conn.) and Ben Farina (Waterford, Conn.) both posted solid days at the plate, with Farina spraying five hits to Monack's four in the twin bill. Play is scheduled to resume on Saturday, March 13 with the remainder of the second game, followed immediately by the third game of the series.

Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Wins Longest Game In NCAA History
The Quinnipiac University's 3-2 win against No. 17 Union not only gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal series, but also finished as the longest game in NCAA Division I ice hockey history. The game, which ended with Greg Holt's goal at the 10:22 mark of the fifth overtime, lasted 150:22. Union and Yale's match-up from two years held the record after it lasted 141:32. Quinnipiac Head Coach Rand Pecknold Wins 300th Career Game
With a 2-1 win against Dartmouth on Sunday, March 7, that also sent the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team to the 2010 ECAC Hockey Championship Quarterfinals against Union, Bobcats head coach Rand Pecknold won his 300th career game. Pecknold becomes the 67th coach in NCAA Division I Ice Hockey history to reach the 300-win mark.

Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Takes On No. 17 Union In ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals This Weekend
Quinnipiac will head to Schenectady, N.Y. on Friday, March 12 to kick-off the 2010 ECAC Hockey Championship Quarterfinal round against third-seed Union College, nationally-ranked No. 17 in the USCHO.com Division I poll, at 7 p.m. The Bobcats and Dutchmen will play a three-game series this weekend, with all three games scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday's game will only be played if-necessary. The Bobcats are coming off a three-game First-Round series against Dartmouth that saw Quinnipiac win the first and third games to push its first round record to 10-2 all-time. Union received a first-round bye after finishing in third place in the regular-season ECAC Hockey standings. Quinnipiac is 4-6 in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals all-time.

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team lost to Dartmouth, 6-3, in the second game of the Bobcats' best-of-three ECAC Hockey tournament series at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Bobcats and Big Green hit the ice on Sunday, March 7 at 7 p.m. Freshmen Bobby Tyson (The Woodlands, Texas) and D'Arcy Oakes (Shanty Bay, Ont.) scored for Quinnipiac, with Oakes also picking up an assist, while Jean-Marc Beaudoin (St. Paul, Alb.) scored late in the game. Dartmouth's Matt Reber had two goals and three assists while Scott Fleming added a goal and four assists in the Big Green's win.

The Bobcats split last weekend, defeating St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena, 2-0, before losing to Clarkson in Potsdam, N.Y., 4-1. The Bobcats are currently 15-13-2 overall and 9-9-0 in ECAC Hockey play, good for 7th in the league standings with 18 points. RPI hosts the Bobcats on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Houston Field House with a record of 16-13-3 including a 9-7-2 record in ECAC Hockey play. Quinnipiac senior Greg Holt (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) had a hand in three of Quinnipiac's five goals to help the Bobcats to a 5-0 win against St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena in Canton, N.Y. Holt had three assists, while sophomore goalie Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ont.) stopped all 23 shots from St. Lawrence as the Bobcats posted their second straight shutout. Quinnipiac improves to 15-12-2 overall and 9-8-0 in ECAC Hockey while St. Lawrence goes to 14-11-5 overall and 8-6-3 in league play. The loss was St. Lawrence's second in 12 games at Appleton Arena this season.

The Bobcats and Saints hit the ice at Appleton Arena in Canton, N.Y. on Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. before heading over to Clarkson's Cheel Arena on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. Quinnipiac is coming off a 2-0 shutout against Colgate on Saturday, Feb. 6 that snapped an eight-game winless streak to help them improve to 14-12-2 overall and 8-8-0 in ECAC Hockey, good for seventh place. St. Lawrence sits in fourth place, just three points ahead of the Bobcats, with a league mark of 8-5-3 and an overall record of 14-10-5. Clarkson is 5-20-3 overall, including a 1-13-2 record in league play.

The award is given annually to an outstanding senior NCAA student-athlete who excels on and off the ice. #$%^An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School?, the Lowe's Senior CLASS #$%^Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 20 candidates who were announced in October.

Sinai, N.Y.) and junior Zach #$%^Hansen (White Bear Lake, Minn.) as well as a stellar performance from goalie Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ont.) to improve to 14-12-2 overall and 8-8-0 in #$%^ECAC Hockey. The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team hosts ECAC Hockey foe Colgate in a league match-up at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. Dan Clarke Named HCA National College Hockey Player Of The Month
Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey goalie Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ont.) was named the Hockey Commissioner's Association (HCA) Player of the Month for November. Clarke was 7-0-0 to help the Bobcats to a perfect 8-0-0 record for the month while capturing a pair of ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week awards. He is the only goalie in Division I hockey with a 1.000 winning percentage for the season.

The No. 13 Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team upset No. 5 Cornell, 3-2, in an ECAC Hockey match-up at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, N.Y. With #$%^the win, Quinnipiac sweeps its third consecutive ECAC Hockey weekend to improve to 6-0-0 in ECAC Hockey and 10-1-0 overall. Cornell goes to 5- #$%^2-0 overall and 4-2-0 in league action. Quinnipiac stands in first place following its sixth consecutive win. Sophomore Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ont.) #$%^stopped 23 of 25 shots on goal, including the first 20 he saw in the game until late in the third period. Three different Quinnipiac players, including two #$%^freshmen, scored to lead Quinnipiac. Former Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey player David Marshall was the subject on www.LakeErieMonsters.com in their weekly 'Getting To Know...' feature. Marshall, who finished his career at Quinnipiac as the Bobcats' Division I leader in goals scored with 73, signed with the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters last spring. Through 14 games this season, Marshall has scored twice and assisted on another goal. In nine games last season with Lake Erie, Marshall totaled two goals and three assists for five points.

Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold has announced that seniors Brandon Wong (Victoria, B.C.) and Mike Atkinson (Sparta, N.J.) have been named assistant captains for the 2009-10 season. Last year, at the Bobcats' annual banquet, Jean-Marc Beaudoin (St. Paul, Alb.) was voted the team's captain unanimously. Men's Ice Hockey Tops Prince Edward Island, 4-3
Quinnipiac freshmen Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.), Mike Dalhuisen (Nymegen, Holland) and Loren Barron (Glendora, Calif.) all collected two points #$%^apiece to help Quinnipiac to a 4-3 win against the University of Prince Edward Island in an exhibition game at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, #$%^Conn. Freshman Ben Arnt (Oakdale, Minn.) and sophomore Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) added goals for Quinnipiac. The Bobcats #$%^also held a fundraiser during the game to benefit Autism Speaks in which over $9,000 was raised.

Live Videostream Available For Men's Ice Hockey Exhibition Against Prince Edward Island
For the second consecutive year, the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team will welcome the University of Prince Edward Island to the TD Bank Sports Center for an exhibition game. The Bobcats and Panthers hit the ice on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. The game will be the first on-ice competition against another opponent of the year while Prince Edward stands at 2-1-1 following a 3-3 tie against Rensselaer on Saturday, Oct. 3 in Schnecetady, N.Y. A live video stream will be available for sunday's exhibition game and can be accessed on the Bobcat Channel free to all Bobcat fans. Men's Ice Hockey To Host Fundraiser For Autism Speaks
The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team will host a fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 4 for the charitable organization, Autism Speaks. Following the Bobcats exhibition game against Prince Edward Island University at 4 p.m., youth ice hockey groups will be hit the ice at the TD Bank Sports Center to play a series of cross-ice games with Quinnipiac's men's ice hockey players.

Men's Ice Hockey Picked To Finish 8th In ECAC Hockey Coaches' Preseason Poll
The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team was picked to finish 8th in ECAC Hockey by the league's coaches in the 2009-10 Preseason Poll. In 2008-09, Quinnipiac posted an 18-18-3 overall record and a 10-11-3 mark in ECAC Hockey play.

Quinnipiac University sophomore Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) was featured on Insidecollegehockey.com. Zurevinski continues a string of Bobcat players, following last year's selection Dan Henningson, in the INCH A-Z season preview feature. Last season, he was also named the team's Rookie of the Year.

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team played the Hamden Police Benevolent Association in a charity softball game to benefit autism at Hamden High School on Sunday, Sept. 13. The event, part of the Quinnipiac University Athletics Positive Play Community Outreach.High, was the first of two fund-raising events for the men's ice hockey team planned for the fall. Quinnipiac will also host several youth hockey organizations on Sunday, Oct. 4 for its exhibition game against University of Prince Edward Island at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.

Men's Ice Hockey Jersey Advances To "Group" Tournament - NEEDS VOTES
After receiving the most votes of any ECAC Hockey school in The Hockey News' Puck Poll, the Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team's navy blue road jersey has advanced to the next round of fan voting. The Bobcats' navy-and-gold has been placed with a tough group, consisting of the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, Florida Everglades, Manchester Monarchs, the University of Maine Bears, as well as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, and the Quebec Ramperts. The Bobcats need all the votes they can get!

Men's Ice Hockey Announces 2009-10 Schedule
The Quinnipiac University Department of Athletics has announced the men's ice hockey schedule for the upcoming 2009-10 season. The Bobcats' non-conference slate includes Ohio State University, Bentley College, Robert Morris University, University of Masschusetts, College of the Holy Cross, American International College, St. Cloud State University and Niagara University.

Men's Ice Hockey Jersey Needs Fans' Votes
The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team's blue-and-gold road jersey has been ranked by thehockeynews.com as the No. 1 jersey in ECAC Hockey. The Hockey News held a competition last season for the best logo among college and professional hockey. This year they have put together a competition and tournament for the best jersey. Following fan voting, the winning jersey from each college hockey league will go up against teams from the NHL, AHL, ECHL and more. Bobcat fans are encouraged to head to The Hockey News' 'Puck Poll' to vote for the Bobcats jersey as soon as possible. While the Bobcats jersey was considered the top jersey by the website, as of Tuesday, Sept. 1, fan voting has pushed Union College's maroon and white road jersey to the top of the list with 22% of the vote. Rensselaer (16%) and Princeton (13%) also snuck ahead of Quinnipiac (12%).

Rand Pecknold Hockey Camp Comes To A Close
Over 50 youth hockey players were on hand for the final day of the largely successful Rand Pecknold Hockey Camp. The head coach for the nationally-ranked Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team led a white team that managed to squeeze out the game-winning goal in the final minutes over the blue team in an 18-17 win in the final game of the 2009 camp.

Men's Ice Hockey Assistant Bill Riga Coaches At USA Hockey Select-17 Player Development Camp
Quinnipiac University men's assistant ice hockey coach Bill Riga recently served as a coach at the USA Hockey Select 17 Player Development Camp that was held from July 7-13 at the ESL Sports Centre in Rochester, N.Y. The goal of the camp is to serve as a try-out for the 2009 U.S. Under-18 Select Team that will compete at the 2009 Ivan Hlinka Memorial from Aug. 11-15, in Piestany, Slovakia.

Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold has announced the release of his instructional youth hockey book, 'Hard Core Hockey.' Pecknold and Aaron Foeste co-authored the book, which was published by McGraw-Hill Publishers and is available for purchase at amazon.com.
