The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team was featured on CollegeHockeyNews.com and USCHO.com following their thrilling two-game sweep of No. 17 Ohio State on Thursday, Oct. 8 and Friday, Oct. 9. The Bobcats posted a 4-2 win in the first game of the series, highlighted by a pair of goals by Eric Lampe. In the second game, Lampe scored again but it was Dan Clarke's career-best 44 saves that led Quinnipiac to a 3-1 win against the Buckeyes.
Quinnipiac and Ohio State's meeting on Thursday, as well as the Rensselaer/UMass match-up, marked the first NCAA Division I men's ice hockey games of the season. Lampe scored twice for Quinnipiac, while Scott Zurevinski and Brandon Wong also added goals. On Friday, Quinnipiac came back after a lopsided first period that saw Ohio State outshoot the Bobcats, 25-6, before heading into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead. It was Zach Hansen's one-timer from the point that tied the game before Lampe scored his third goal in two nights to give Quinnipiac the lead. Wong picked up assists on both goals before Mike Atkinson scored an empty-netter to give Quinnipiac a two-goal lead.
