Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team was the top feature
story on USCHO.com (U.S. College Hockey Online) following a pair of
upset wins against nationally-ranked No. 8/9 Nebraska Omaha. The
Bobcats knocked off the Mavericks 4-3 on Thursday before defeating
UNO 3-2 on Friday.Quinnipiac is now 3-1-0 against the WCHA and
3-2-0 against ranked teams. In 10 games in which the Bobcats scored
first, Quinnipiac is now 9-1-0.
Quinnipiac received a pair of amazing games from sophomore Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) who stopped 97 of 101 shots on goal for the weekend for a pair of wins. Hartzell stopped 53 of Nebraska Omaha's 56 shots on goal on Friday as the Bobcats took a 3-0 lead and held off three unanswered goals from Nebraska Omaha. Scott Zurevinski (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan)scored the game-winner in the closing minutes and Loren Barron (Glendora, Calif.) had his first career four-point game with a goal and three assists.
On Friday, Hartzell once-again stonewalled the opposition, stopping 44 of 46 shots on goal and Russell Goodman (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) scored the game's first two goals. Barron added a pair of assist to run his two-day total to six points and Zach Hansen (White Bear Lake, Minn.) scored the game-winner.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 when they travel to Princeton for an ECAC Hockey match-up against the Tigers at 7 p.m. at Hobey Baker Rink.
