The
Heroes Hat and Senior Night
It will be a busy weekend at the TD Bank Sports Center as the men's
ice hockey team will host nationally-ranked No. 3/3 Yale on Friday,
Feb. 18 for the annual Heroes Hat game at 8 p.m. The game can be
seen live on Comcast SportsNet New England and CSTV. The Bobcats
will then host Brown on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. with Senior
Night festivities planned for the evening.

director Rich Coppola supplying the color commentary on Comcast
Sports Net New England and CSTV on Friday night, with Bill Mecca
providing Bobcat fans with the sideline report. Paul Pacelli and

All-Time Against Yale
Quinnipiac is 6-4-1 all-time against Yale. Quinnipiac won five of
the first six meetings against Yale but have posted a 1-3-1 record
in their last five games against the Bulldogs. Quinnipiac is
undefeated against Yale all-time (3-0-1) at the TD Bank Sports
Center.
The
Heroes Hat
The ninth Heroes Hat championship is on the line when Quinnipiac
and Yale face-off on Friday night. This is the fifth time the
Bobcats and Bulldogs battle for the award with Quinnipiac winning
three of its previous four matchups, which included one tie. The
Heroes Hat is presented to the winner of the last regular-season
game between the two teams. The first four Heroes Hat awards were
presented to the winner of the annual season series between
Quinnipiac and UConn from 2001-02 to 2004-05.
Scouting The Bulldogs
Yale is currently 20-5-0 overall and 14-4-0 in ECAC Hockey, good
for second place in the league standings. The Bulldogs are
currently ranked 3rd in the USCHO.com Division I and USA Today/USA
Hockey Magazine polls. The Bulldogs boast the nation's top offense
at 4.32 goals per game, while holding opponents to 2.20 goals per
contest, for a +2.12 scoring margin, also tops in Division I
hockey. Yale carries five players to tally 25 or more points on the
year, including with 30 or more points. Brian O'Neill leads the
team in goals (15) and points (32), while also chipping in 17
assists. Andrew Miller has passed-out a team-best 24 assists for
the year, while also scoring seven goals for 31 points. Broc Little
slots in behind O'Neill and Miller with 14 goals and 16 assists for
30 points. Chris Cahill (11-16--27) and Denny Kearney (11-16--27)
round-out the Bulldogs' top five scorers. Ryan Rondeau has seen a
majority of the minutes in goal for Yale this year, posting a
19-4-0 record with a .925 save percentage, 2.02 goals-against
average with three shuouts.
All-Time Against Brown
Quinnipiac is 8-4-1 in 13 games all-time against Brown, including a
3-3 tie in Providence on Nov. 5, 2010. Quinnipiac won seven of the
first nine meetings between the two teams, but have posted a 1-2-1
record in their last four meetings. Quinnipiac is 4-1-0 all-time at
the TD Bank Sports Center against the Bears.
Scouting
The Bears
Brown is currently
8-12-4 overall and 6-10-1 in ECAC Hockey play. The Bears defeated
St. Lawrence last Saturday, 5-1, to hault a five-game losing
streak. Jack Mclellan leads the Bears in goals (14), assists (17)
and points (31) while Harry Zolnierczyk has also tallied double
figures in goals (11) and assists (14) for 25 points. Mike Clemente
has logged a majority of the minutes between the pipes for Brown
and carries a 6-9-4 win-loss record with a .900 save percentage and
a 3.18 goals-against average.
Quinnipiac sophomore Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) has been announced as one of 15 semifinalists for the prestigious Walter Brown Award, given annually by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. The award, now in its 59th year, honors the top American-born NCAA Division I men's ice hockey player in New England. Hartzell was one of five players from ECAC Hockey announced as semifinalist, and one of four goalies on the list. The sophomore goalie has had a break-out season, posting a 10-5-4 record with a .926 save percentage and a 2.28 goals-against average.
