Brown In Town
Quinnipiac hosts Brown on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. in an ECAC
Hockey match-up at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
Quinnipiac lost to Yale on Friday, Feb. 18, 6-1, to drop to 13-13-5
overall and 6-9-4 in ECAC Hockey play. Brown also lost last night,
to Princeton, 7-3 to go to 8-13-4 overall and 6-11-1 in league
play.
Senior Night
Prior to the start of Saturday night's game, Quinnipiac Athletics
will honor the three seniors playing in their final regular-season
game at the TD Bank Sports Center. Sean Coughlin (Winthrop, Mass.),
Pat McGann (Evergreen, Ill.) and assistant captain Zach Hansen
(White Bear Lake, Minn.) will be recognized by Quinnipiac
approximately 15 minutes before the start of the game. Senior
student managers David Ratner and Danny Ryan, as well as student
athletic trainer Elena Bochicchio, will also be recognized for
their contributions to Quinnipiac men's ice hockey.
Playoff Picture
Quinnipiac currently sits in 8th place in the ECAC Hockey standings
with 16 points, one shy of Clarkson (17) in seventh place, and
three points ahead of Brown (13) and St. Lawrence (13), tied for
ninth place. The Bobcats can finish anywhere from sixth to 11th in
the league standings and need five points in their final three
games to clinch home-ice for the first round of the ECAC Hockey
tournament, set to being on March 4-6 in a best-of-three
format.

All-Time Against Brown
Quinnipiac is 8-4-1 in 13 games all-time against Brown, including a
3-3 tie in Providence on Nov. 5, 2010. Quinnipiac won seven of the
first nine meetings between the two teams, but have posted a 1-2-1
record in their last four meetings. Quinnipiac is 4-1-0 all-time at
the TD Bank Sports Center against the Bears.
Scouting The Bears
Brown is currently 8-12-4 overall and 6-10-1 in ECAC Hockey play.
The Bears defeated St. Lawrence last Saturday, 5-1, to hault a
five-game losing streak. Jack Mclellan leads the Bears in goals
(14), assists (17) and points (31) while Harry Zolnierczyk has also
tallied double figures in goals (11) and assists (14) for 25
points. Mike Clemente has logged a majority of the minutes between
the pipes for Brown and carries a 6-9-4 win-loss record with a .900
save percentage and a 3.18 goals-against average.

Time Out
Against Yale on Friday, Feb. 18, Kellen Jones scored the Bobcats
only goal in a 6-1 loss to the No. 3 Bulldogs. Scott Zurevinski and
Loren Barron had assists on the goal, while Eric Hartzell record 23
saves in two periods Dan Clarke played the final period, stopping
all 13 shots he saw.
The
59th Annual Walter Brown Award
Quinnipiac sophomore Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) has
been announced as one of 15 semifinalists for the prestigious
Walter Brown Award, given annually by the Gridiron Club of Greater
Boston. The award, now in its 59th year, honors the top
American-born NCAA Division I men's ice hockey player in New
England. Hartzell was one of five players from ECAC Hockey
announced as semifinalist, and one of four goalies on the list. The
sophomore goalie has had a break-out season, posting a 10-5-4
record with a .926 save percentage and a 2.28 goals-against
average.
