Quinnipiac men's ice hockey freshman Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario) has been named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week by the ECAC Hockey office.
Peca, in his first season at Quinnipiac, helped the Bobcats to a 2-1-0 week after scoring in each of Quinnipiac's three games and also picking up an assist in the Bobcats win against Bentley. For the year, Peca has totaled three goals and five assists for eight points. He ranks second in total points among all rookies in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey and tied for 4th in points per game (1.00).
Peca is the second Bobcats player to earn weekly ECAC Hockey honors after Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.) was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week on Oct. 7, 2011.
