Four different Bobcats scored in the victory to give head coach Rand Pecknold his 250th win at the Division I level and 325th all-time. Zack Currie (Victoria, British Columbia) and Connor Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) both tallied a goal and an assist while Clay Harvey (Gull Lake, Saskatchewan) and John Dunbar (Calgary, Alberta) also scored for the Bobcats. Quinnipiac scored three times in the first period, capped off by a power-play goal by Currie midway through the period. Harvey put Quinnipiac on the board with his first goal of the season, with assists going to Heichman and Bouharevich. Dunbar gave the Bobcats at two-goal lead just 6:29 into the period before Currie scored on a one-timer to give Quinnipiac a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
In the second period, Connor scored his fifth goal of the year at the 10:04 mark of the period when twin Kellen intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and re-directed the puck up ice to Connor just above the blue line. Connor skated in, almost untouched, and sniped a shot off the far post to give Quinnipiac a four-goal lead.
In the third, Steven Guzzo scored his fifth goal of the year to put UMass on the board on a pass from Joey Hanley. Hanley picked up another assist when he took a pass from T. J. Syner and fed Michael Marcou as the Minutemen trimmed Quinnipiac's lead to two with 13 minutes to play in regulation. Michael Pereira was also credited with an assist on UMass' first goal.
