The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team defeated Brown, 4-2, in the third and decisive game of its ECAC Hockey Tournament First Round series at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center. With the win, Quinnipiac advances to the ECAC Hockey Tournament Quarterfinals at Colgate on Mar. 9-11. As the Bobcats advance, it marks the seventh consecutive year that Quinnipiac has won a postseason series, making them the only team in ECAC Hockey to do so since Quinnipiac joined the league in 2005-06. Quinnipiac also remains  undefeated in ECAC Hockey Tournament First Round series play with an overall record of 14-3.

Four different Bobcats scored, as Kellen Jones (Montrose, British Columbia), Kevin Bui (Edmonton, Alberta), Clay Harvey (Gull Lake, Saskatchewan) and Yuri Bouharevich (Montreal, Quebec) all scored for the Bobcats. Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) picked up the win after stopping 35 shots in the win.

Kellen Jones put Quinnipiac on the board with a power play goal early in the first period .Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario) was credited with an assist after handling the puck in the corner to the left of Brown goalie Mike Clemente and sending it out to the point to Jones. It marked the 11st straight Quinnipiac goal that Peca had a hand in, giving him a goal and 10 assists in the run.

A goal by Bui midway through the first period put the Bobcats in the lead, 2-0. Mike Dalhuisen (Nymegen, Holland) handled the puck just above the blue line in the Bobcats' defensive zone before hitting Bryce Van Brabant's (Morinville, Alberta) tape just over the red line. Van Brabant re-directed the puck to the left flake where Bui picked it up in stride and took off down ice. The senior wing, seeing his first action of the series, faked to the far post before bringing the puck back and beating Clemente stick-side to give Quinnipiac a two-goal lead.

With less than four minutes to play in the period, a Brown turnover in the neutral zone resulted Clemente all alone as Spencer Heichman (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Harvey skated into the Bears' defensive zone. Heichman skated into the face-off circle to Clemente's left and snapped a pass to Harvey who one-timed the puck past Brown's goalie to give Quinnipiac a 3-0 lead.

2:34 into the third period, Brown got on the board with a power play goal by Chris Zaires. Richie Crowley worked the puck around the zone and sent it to the right flank to Jeff Buvinow. Buvinow's pass found Zaires stick, who one-timed a shot from the point to make the score, 3-1. Less than a minute later, a the 3:43 mark, it was Matt Harlow with the goal to pull Brown within a goal, 3-2, with assists to Buvinow and Mark Hourihan.

Bouharevich scored an empty net goal to seal the victory for the Bobcats with 15.3 seconds remaining.
