ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey sophomore Connor Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) was named to the All-ECAC Hockey Third Team while freshman stand-out Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario) earned All-ECAC Hockey Rookie Team honors, as announced by the league office. Jones led the team with 41 points, with 13 goals and 28 assists, while Peca was second with 39 points, on eight goals and team-leading 31 assists. To date, his 39 points lead all freshman in the nation.

Quinnipiac's top-two scorers are the first Bobcat players to earn all-league honors since Bryan Leitch was named to the ECAC Hockey Second Team in 2009. Jones gives the program its fourth all-league selection since Quinnipiac joined ECAC Hockey in 2005-06. In addition to Leitch, current assistant coach and former captain Reid Cashman was honored in 2005-06 and 2006-07.

Jones, a former stand-out with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), is Quinnipiac's first 40-point scorer since Leitch accomplished the feat during the 2008-09 season. The sophomore center had a brilliant second year with the Bobcats, posting a team-best 12 multiple-point games while leading the team in scoring. The program's Rookie of the Year last season, Jones' goal, assist and point totals all increased in his second year. His season-high four assists came in a 7-1 win against Colgate on Jan. 14 and completed a six-game point streak. He followed two weeks later with a three-assist night in a 7-6 win against Clarkson and had back-to-back one-goal, one-assist outings against Brown and Yale to help Quinnipiac clinch home ice in the ECAC Hockey Tournament. He would put his mark on his second post season with the team with two points in a three-game series against Brown, before scoring both goals in the first game of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals at Colgate. In the second game, Jones scored one goal before assisting on the game-winner in a 4-2 victory.

Peca becomes Quinnipiac's first All-ECAC Rookie Team selection since Brandon Wong was selected for the 2006-07 squad, and third all-time after Leitch earned the honor in 2005-06.

Peca, who starred on the Central Canadian Hockey Leagues' (CJHL) Pembroke Lumber Kings and was a seventh round draft pick of National Hockey League's (NHL) Tampa Bay Lightning, also joins Leitch as the second Quinnipiac freshman to lead the team in assists, after Leitch totaled 31 in 2005-06. The 31-assist mark is also the second highest for a Quinnipiac freshman, trailing Brian Herbert's 32 assists in 1999-00. His 39 points are the most for a first-year player since Brandon Wong tallied 44 in 2006-07. Peca also became the first Quinnipiac player to have a hand in 11 consecutive goals scored and the first freshman to lead the team in scoring in the postseason. In six ECAC Hockey Tournament games, Peca totaled nine points, on a goal and eight assists, which were a Quinnipiac record and also led all NCAA Division I players in postseason scoring. A three-time ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week selection, Peca posted an 11-game point streak, which was the second longest for a freshman in program history after Ben Nelson's 13-game point streak in 2005-06. Including the final weekend of the season, Peca totaled 15 points, on a goal and 14 assists, in Quinnipiac's final eight games.
